Have my first class cancelled tomorrow as a lot of kids were emailing the professor about wanting to go home early.

Must be dominated by freshmen..

I'm not complaining though.

Do you remember what our interstates looked like during that storm before Christmas? Kansas Citizians don't exactly have a monopoly on poor winter driving.

Yep. Driving east on I-80 a couple days after that storm there seemed to be more cars in the ditches than there were on the road.

Looking for educated opinions here. There is supposed to be a performance of a play tonight, the director is insisting that it will go on tonight (the show, get it?) but I think we should cancel. Thoughts?

Is this a theatre or school thing? If school, you're making the decision for kids, I'd lean towards cancelling. If theatre, the attendees can choose to attend or not, the cast...depends on how far they're travelling.

Full school day after lunch, so they just say **** it, let's go home. Also get to store and get the 5 day supply of milk and bread before everybody else.

Urban myth. Schools do not have to serve lunch to have it count as a day if they are dismissing because of weather.

Correct...they just have to show up! That counts...although a district might look poor for doing so but once the school day starts they could cancel it for an emergency and count it as a day.
