Parking problems

I wouldn't mind G7 if it weren't for the teenage parking nazis and the mud. Its a comparable walk, no wait for toilets, usually easy to get out. But we hang out for an hour or so afterwards anyway. We traded to go to g7 after the rest if our group got bumped from D2. After that year they all decided to bump up to our donation level.

I have been on the paved lots and also in G-7. Paved lots are easier to get out of after the game. None of the parking is atrocious at JTS. With the loss of parking due to the new Football Facilities, it will likely take a $500 donation to get into the paved lots. And higher donation level always trumps longevity when consideration is given for reserved parking. Longevity is only beneficial as the tiebreaker for all others within that donation level according to what I have heard.

Disagree. It does no good to get donations through fear frustrated customers. You're just as likely to lose donors who are unhappy they couldn't get the courtesy of a call for the amount they give. Especially if those being moved down were of adequate donor level according to the charts distributed by the AD.

As far as logistical nightmare, given how many calls i've gotten from the ISU foundation, surely some phone-dialers could be rounded up to call with the 'due to high demand, we may not be able to guarantee you the same parking as last year. if you wish to keep your spot, an additional donation will be required for 2012' spiel.
Until, or even IF, this increase in giving levels off it is not possible to ensure any spots for anyone. Those who give the most, regardless of when they give it in the enrollment period, get what they want. The cascade occurs and the low end falls off. Take all the top money you can and don't make promises you cannot keep. This is supply and demand at work. Those who say "hey I have given 250 for 19 years" need to realize a one year $5000 donation trumps them.....everytime!!! You cannot call every one that is falling off the low end each and every time a higher donation comes in. Not reasonably possible and, quite frankly, a waste of time.

Simple solution

If you don't like your parking spot, donate more money next year

I have been parking at the South Towers lot (for free) for the last 15 years. When I started there were about 5 other people parking there. Now there are 100's of people parking there including many tailgaters.

Which is no problem. Its my fault for assuming things would be the same as they haev for the last several years. Shoulda thought about how losing one entire lot would affect parking.

This is what I have done for years too. Used to be a easy place to slide in and out of but not so much anymore. Also, I'm not sure how the new sports facility will impact it this year.

Here nor there
I actually agree with rebecacy on this. Courtesy calls are a no win for the AD.
It seems many get a little upset with the AD asking for the $$ the first time. I cannot imagine it would go well with the AD calling "hey, I noticed you put down that you are willing to pay $500 for a spot. I found some other fans willing to pay $1000. Will you give me $1200?"

Plus, when does the bidding stop? So you up your donation after ISU calls. Does the person you knocked off the list get a turn to respond too?

I remember as a kid pulling up to the lots in between JTS and Hilton 15 minutes before kick-off and finding good spots very easily.

What if you make the call and everyone called bumps up their donation? Do you then call those who already bumped theirs up and were going to displace the people you already called. When does it end? Should they just make this an auction?

There are no guarantees. I know I can't give as much as some so I am constantly in jeopardy, especially with the excitement CPR is generating around Cyclone Football.

EDIT: Don't know how I missed the post above me, but what he said.

I donate only $100, which only qualifies me for G7, and I got G7. I guess there is always going to be one perk of being at the bottom of the totem pole and that is that when you are at the bottom, there is no further to fall!!!! That way you are never dissapointed I guess....unless.....demand were to pick up for passes to the point where I get kicked off the totem pole entirely. Then that would suck!!!

Dont you get "priority points" based on how much you donate, how long you donate, how long you have been buying season tickets, etc.? I'm pretty sure they placed everyone in parking spots based on those priority points, and if you didn't get where you wanted, its because others had more points then you and deserved a better spot then you. Its a pretty simple formula!

Got my tics last night and I am in the same lot as the previous 3 years (B5).

I'm sure that it is rough to find out that you lost your spot due to an increase in demand. I wouldnt be happy but it sounds like those in this situation were actually getting upgraded because of a lack of demand, in reality you were getting something that you werent paying for and now that you are not you're ticked about it. Again I understand that its inconvienent but in reality someone else "earned" that spot because they donated more or they donated the same amount but have seniority.

As others have said this will likely drive some folks to think about donating more cash if their budget allows to ensure the desired lot. If your budget doesnt allow then as a fellow donor and fan please continue to do what you can to support the program and continue your current donation level. Either way its a win for the ISU AD.

Not for parking.

Looks like priority is given based on current giving level. And no lots are guaranteed. The published map is an estimated representation.

Points are used for seating, and tickets to special events.
