I think Twister Sister fans need to push Chris a little to give them a little love in his write-ups. They have a huge win yesterday and not a word in the Monday Musings? What's up with that? This is the most consistent winner that ISU has ever had and they are the Rodney Dangerfield of sports sites. Heck, Cyclone Report doesn't even realize they exist.

People rip me all of the time and most of the time, I sit back and take it. It's part of the job. But to sit here and accuse me/CF of not covering women's basketball is asinine. We're a free site and pay a freelance writer (Ian Smith, a damn good freelance writer at that) to attend/cover every single home game.

Every other week, Billy Fennelly joins Tron and me on our call-in show.

Every year, we cover the women at the Big 12 Tournament.

You want to read about yesterday's game?

Here's Ian's in-depth report from the win that has been on our front page since about an hour after yesterday's game.

I think he just meant why not mention them in YOUR regular posts a couple of times. I agree that CF is a great supporter of our womens hoops and Ian does a tremendous job with his write ups and updates. I think he was just asking for you to give a mainstream shoutout after a huge win yesterday..

You so sure about that?
Ever heard of Men's Gymnastics? 7 undefeated seasons, 10 conference titles, 3 NCAA championships, 18 NCAA champs, 27 conference champs.
What about wrestling? 199 different conference individual champs, 65 NCAA individual champs, 14 conference championships, 8 NCAA championships.

Before you sling some mud at Chris check your own facts.

It's still just women's basketball. It's great when Iowa State is good and I'll give the gals a huzzah. Like volleyball and gymnastics and cross country and whatever women's sport. But they're all about 1 percent as important as football and (men's) basketball.

Agreed. Can't fault CW for focusing his time, energy and resources on the important sports...especially when we are relevant in MBB for the first time in years.

Why? Because those are the only two sports that come out in the black at the end of the year? You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it any less arrogant, sexist, or dumb.

Boom! Roasted!

I think, for a free site, CF covers much more than any other free site. MGoBlog, the largest bog out there in terms of members IIRC, doesn't cover anything women related. They barely cover hockey which is about equivalent to WBB in their world. Besides that, Ian Smith covers a lot of WBB stuff and the OP writes something up after every game. I get wanting CW to make a mention but let's face it, WBB isn't something a lot of readers come here for. That's not the draw.

That's not sexist. It would be sexist if he wanted mens sports covered and not womens. He is saying that WBB doesn't pay the bills for the University and it doesn't pay the bills for college related sites. This isn't about gender, it's about what interests the readership.

I have to weigh in that this is the place to come for WBB news. Yesterday we had Ians story and an ongoing thread during the game on the WBB forum. One big reason I am here more than on CR these days is for the WBB news I can't get anywhere else especially with respect to recruits and potential recruiting targets. Wheteher it is a story by Chris or Ian or posting on the WBB forum doesn't matter to me. BTW, the only way WBB would make CR as a story is if we went to the Final Four or if Coach Bill was fired or something.

Bingo! I don't criticize Chris for what is provided here. It's one of the reasons I post here frequently about the sisters. This is a great site. I just think one of the current premiere programs at ISU warrants some attention in the weekly commentary.

Chris is right...Ian does a nice job of writing articles for the home games. There is a vibrant community of contributors on the boards. All the more reason to integrate a team into the bigger conversation.

It's not sexist. It's not arrogant. It's just the truth. Women's college basketball is very, very low in the hierarchy of popular sports. It ranked 19th in a 2010 Harris poll asking people what their favorite sport is. On the whole, it's not a moneymaker, it doesn't draw ratings, and people are not nearly as interested in it as they are in numerous other sports.
