This is a big boost for them in the B1G race. I would call them the favorite to win it at this point.

I agree, this is a huge get for them. Wilson has been one of the more underrated QB's in the country the last couple of years. With tOSU's losses this offseason I think Wisconsin is hands down the favorite to win the conference.

Yeah with Wilson in they now just have to find someone can somewhat replace JJ Watt and they should be dang good. I know they lost a couple of OL's but they just reload at that position.

Not so fast my friend (you know that you just read that in corso's voice). It will be very difficult for Wilson (as talented as he is) to pick that offense up effectively. Wisconsin isn't going to run a dumbed down offense (like auburn) to handle a first year starter.

I think that he will be good but I don't know if they will be the favorites.

I had picked Illinois to win the Leaders division prior to this being official, now my pick will be Wisconsin. Wisconsin would have been in a WORLD of hurt at QB if not for this gift from above.

This move will single-handedly win Wisconsin 2-3 more games they would have not otherwise been able to win.

I had Wisconsin projected at 8-4 prior to this, now I think they could definitely go 10-2/11-1.

Seems like a good fit for both parties. Wisconsin's offense is so run oriented he should be able to pick it up. He's obviously a bright athlete if he graduated already and is accomplished as a baseball/football player. They do play Oregon State in the 2nd game so he'll definitely need to be ready to go for that one. Should have no issue running over UNLV in the opener.

You make a good point, but Wilson is a very smart player and Wisky runs a very tradtional offense (much like the Tom O'brien/Dana Bible scheme he came from). He may not put up the numbers he did at NC State but he more than likely won't have to. I don't think he'll have much of a problem picking up the system.

I just informed a coworker who is a Nub fan of this, his only response was, "****!" I know they aren't even in the same division but the road to aNub "national title"(in his warped mind only) ran through that title game.

As a current student at NC State, I wish Wilson all the best of luck. He's a great player and a model student athlete. He graduated in three years and is almost done with a master's degree if I remember right. I've seen him play on both the gridiron and the diamond. He's a much better football player than a baseball player (and he was brought to NC State as a 2nd basemen who just happened to also play QB). The Badger fans will have fun watching him play. He was a blast to watch under NC State's red and white.

FYI, he's also engaged to be married.

So how much did Bielema offer compared to Chizik, 10k or 20k more?

I don't think that happened since he got a $200K signing bonus with the Rockies when he was drafted. As far as I can tell, he's a stand-up guy in every sense of the word. His family is pretty well-off anyway since his late father, Harrison Wilson, was a lawyer, and a wide receiver for the San Diego Chargers before that.

I think the Big Ten is completely up for grabs this year with a lot of good teams but no great team. This and Ohio State's implosion has to put Wisconsin in the drivers seat. Having an experienced QB to replace Tolziehn will be nice when they play back to back nationally televised night games at MSU and Ohio State

I just have one question...and seriously be honest. Tell me you think that leaders/legends name is the most ******** name in all of college football.

What happens when Jon Budmayr is the starter in week 1? What if he plays well? Does Wisconsin bench him? This is more of a headache than anything. As soon as Budmayr makes one bad throw the stadium will be screaming for Wilson. Not only that, Wilson has 1 month to learn everything. To me, it isnt worth it for one season. This will cause problems in the Wisconsin locker room because you better believe those kids are loyal to Jon Budmayr and the work he has put in to be the starter. This isnt gonna be such as smooth a deal as many think.

No doubt, the division names are atrocious....whoever was responsible for thinking them up (as well as the alignments), deserves to be tarred & feathered.

Unless you are inside the UW locker room, I think you are making a flawed assumption - Jon Budmayr probably hasn't earned anyone's respect.

The guy has thrown, what, four passes in his entire collegiate career? Players respect QB's that win....I don't care how good of a guy Budmayr is, if he isn't a good QB, he won't gain much respect from anyone. As of right now, I have no reason to believe he is a good QB....On the other hand, I damn well know Russell Wilson is a good QB.

Exactly. These guys would probably rather win with a guy they just met than lose with a good buddy.

Wilson won the starting spot by transfering to Wisconsin. That is how bad Budmayr is. If you are a Bears fan think Todd Collins.
