I am hearing that former Michigan State guard Korie Lucious will be in Ames this weekend for an official visit. Tom Izzo dismissed Lucious from the team last month.

I recently read a quote HERE from Lucious' mother, who said that Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo would help assist Korie in finding a spot to land. That is essentially how Chris Allen (another MSU transfer) ended up in Ames.

Stay tuned. Below are stats from the first three seasons of his career in East Lansing.

Interesting development. Not sure where the scholly would come from, but I would take him if we don't have any better options out there.

Didn't Lucious play a role in Chris Allen leaving MSU? I know there was some drama between Allen, a female, and either Lucious or Kalin Lucas. But I guess since he's visiting ISU it was between Allen and Lucas.

I am about done with this transfer thing. Burning a scholarship for a year so we can wait to get one year of play out of a guy just seems crazy at this point. Our team needs some reserves. the transfer situation can really be seen this year as we have no usable bench. I was hoping Fred was done doing this. We have our shot in the arm, and I would like to see future scholarships going to players who will be on scholarship for a few years and not have to wait to see the floor. I dream of having 13 eligible players competing in a game.

I'd take Lucious for one year on the court and one year on the practice squad over a Demarcus Phillips on the bench for two years any day!

Eh, this year is an anomaly. Next year and going forward we'll be fine, depth wise. We don't need 13 eligible players, anything beyond a 9 man rotation gets messy. I have no problem taking on transfers, even if it's just for one season, who are proven players at a BCS level conference.

Pass! Id much rather have Bubu than get this guy with one year left and ALL that baggage. Hes never shot even close to 40% from the field in any of his 3 years. please hint waste a scholly on a guy like this when we could get a 2012 kid that will prob be better

Honestly I'm really surprised at this... I'm probably wrong, but I just don't see tying up a scholarship with Lucious for him to play one year when McGee and Sledge have a year in the system to be a good idea.

So, you wouldn't have wanted Marquis Gilstrap or Harrison Barnes (if he went pro after one year) on the team?

What does DP have to do with this?

I look at Korie as taking a scholarship from a talented HS player that I assume we are in on. At least I assumed we were in on some talent that didn't necessitate taking a 1 year transfer. Maybe we aren't. I had higher hopes.

I'm opposed but Fred's the coach.

Shocker!!! The guy who knows more than Coach Rhoads also knows more than Coach Hoiberg. What's next, got a bone to pick with Stephen Hawking?

HB isn't a remotely fair comparison. As for Gilstrap, I'd rather have a talented 3-4 year player in a New York minute. We'll have plenty of guards when Korie is eligible. If Korie was a 'big' I might have a different attitude.
