I've been looking at this technology for a while and as a runner, I'm real tempted.

Isn't it required to have a certain type of Nike shoe that the transmitter in implanted - like, under the inside sole, or something like that ??

YEs. The shoe has to be Nike and will have a + sign in the name of the shoe. I think you can also get shoelace straps where this can work with any type of shoe--being it is laced to your shoestrings not your insole.

I have been using it for 3 years. Works great. I first had the Nike specific shoes. Once I needed new ones I just bought the shoelace pouch.

I have one, it is pretty accurate. My garmin is much better though.

For $20 who cares, give it a shot, and if you like it, it was worth the $20. If you don't you are only out $20.

No, you can get pouches that lace into your shoe for any brand. I don't run in Nike because their running shoes are not good for fat *** runners like myself.

Funny - my *** is a hell of a lot fatter than yours and I've never had problems running in Nike...

I almost hate to say it....but Nike now has an iPhone app, which is supposed to track your mileage and other stats....only costs a few bucks....I will probably try it in the spring, since I am only a fair-weather runner...

I believe this is the same thing as the Nike+ it just uses your iPhone rather than the iPod. it still needs the sensor so it can track your steps.

According to the App store, you don't need a sensor, since it uses the phone's GPS and accelerometer.
Only costs $1.99.
