With what’s going to happen to ISU. I am in favor of the state subsidizing ISU at least until they can find a viable option for their situation. I’m not going to lie, I love the fact that Iowa is benefiting from all of this but not at the expense of ISU. I was born and raised in this state and I take great pride in it. So for what it’s worth this Hawkeye fan is on your side.

Hopefully, both the Big East and the remaining Big 12 schools will agree to join and form a 12-team football conference. ISU isn't going to be left out in the cold.

Well we thank you for your support, sadly it doesn't seem like most of the rest of Hawkeye Nation feels the same way. They are getting their kicks at ISU while we're down...

You're going to get excommunicated for that. But, thank you. :)

Yeah, most Hawkeye would hate you if they saw that. You aren't snickering at our situation. Thanks for the kind words though. We don't get many of them from the Hawkeye side.

Why do ISU fans keep stating this? From what I've seen in person and on several different Iowa boards(also including here), a small percentage of Iowa fans are giddy about this happening while most realize the consequences of ISU getting kicked out of a BCS conference. M

That's nice.

However, we have been competing in a BCS conference without anybody subsidizing us. We haven't been at the top of the Big 12, but we have been very competitive in most every sport. This is not about us not being BSC calibur, this is about TV sets and no schools (including Iowa) caring one bit about our future.

This is a bad situation for the people of Iowa. We have been one of the few states in the country where fans had a choice of major conferences to watch on any given Saturday. We have been like a city with both an American and National league team. Football fans in Iowa are the losers short term, long term student athletes in Iowa will lose opportunities to compete at the Dvision one level in Iowa.

I was at a wedding in eastern Iowa today and all the comments I heard were similar to "what community college conference is ISU going to be in?"

I guess I don't understand why we care what Iowa fans think. I appreciate the support but don't give a rip that others are getting off on our situation.

I presume that they were experts on the community college education system.

who cares what they say. In a few years they will all be talkin about the good ole days before this expansion happen. Wins in an expanded big 11 just got WAAAAAAAY tougher!

I'm not so sure about that. Of course this could change with additional teams being added, but as of right now, Iowa has a pretty good setup in their possible west division to get into B10 championship games. As long as Ferentz is around, its going to be between Nebraska and Iowa most seasons for the division, with home advantage playing a big factor. From 2011 to 2015, Id predict something like Nebraska winning the division twice, Iowa twice, and Wisconsin once.

The 'west' division will not have a dominant force initially, but eventually either Nebraska, Iowa, or Wisconsin will emerge as a constant favorite to win the division. It's up in the air for the 3 and one of them is going to cease it.

Point is 6-7-8 wins would be a heck of a season in that league. Iowa likes to play conservative football which has bit them on the ***. I give them all the credit for making the plays last year, as we all know they coulda woulda whatever lost 3-4 more games. Not having the killer instinct has cost them against teams they should beat. Northwestern most recently.

A lot depends on who is added in the future. If its schools like Texas or Notre Dame, then it will definitely be harder to have 10 win seasons. But if they stay at 12 or expand to 14 or 16 with schools like Rutgers, Syracuse, Maryland, Missouri, etc. etc. I don't see that big of a difference in difficulty of getting 10 wins in a season compared to their current Big 10 schedule. Gotta remember with expansion and most likely being in a different division then PSU, Michigan, and Ohio State.....Iowa will now be able to dodge these schools more from season to season.
