Then where is the exotic dancer bar?
Please tell me you've had Tip Top Chili?!?! If you haven't, it's not the best, but you go for the atmosphere. Only the diehards are there at 530-6 am before heading out tailgating an hour later.
As for me, Battles BBQ is WAAAAAAAYYYY better than Hickory Park (obviously they're different types, but still). I'm a big fan of The Cafe up in Summerset (the newer development in north ames). When i come back for games, I also have to stop by West Street Deli for some Wisconsin CHeese soup and a sandwich! Some of the best toasted creations around! I loved George's Pizza (Main St), and Wallaby's Hawkeye wings (because they're boneless=no backbone!!! :biglaugh
Plenty of good eats in Ames!!!
I am not sure if it is still there but DeSalvo's made the best Philly Cheese Stakes I have ever had. And I really like the Bali Stay House too.
I think Okoboji Grill in its new location far surpasses the old one, too.
Not setting the bar too high. The old Okoboji location had horrible food.

Can you tell him to set up shop on football home games :smile:I actually work with the DiSalvo of which you speak (he's an IT tech at our company). Like Stumpy said, no more Deli, though.
I love Wallaby's, Cafe Northwest, and Dublin Bay, but nobody has mentioned the new and FANTASTIC Thai restaurant, The Spice. It's downstairs from Lucullan's, and is so freaking good that everything else kind of pales in comparison.

I can't believe I went through this whole thread and didn't see 'The Cafe' in Somerset area and Aunt Maude's. There is no question that these are the two best restaurants in Ames!
