I agree...UNI will have a relatively young team this next year. This is allowing them additional practice and playing time.

I wish ISU would schedule one of these trips next summer.

Drake is heading to the Bahamas or someplace soon for a trip also.

Was this tourney coached by Jacobsen? If so, does that not seem like unfair practice/play time they get that other schools can't have yet?

Is the US turning into an athletic has-been? Other countries seem to really be improving.

Can you explain? Because it could help us to get a "loop hole" with all our young guys!

This trip is UNI vs. other countrys' National teams. We usually send a group of great college players from many teams, but couldn't do it this year (it was in the paper recently...). That is the "loop hole". UNI isn't UNI, they are actually "USA's Team" which just so happens to be the entire UNI basketball team.

Which also happens to have "Team USA coach" as Ben Jacobsen?

Also, as much as I love UNI (2nd fav. bball team besides ISU), why them out of every other team in the country?

I sat next to a couple of Lithuanians on a plane several years back. I've also been to Estonia. I think people from the Baltics usually are perceived as having a cold personality and rather unwelcoming but once you warm up to them they'll gladly talk your ear off. The Lithuanians LOVE their basketball and hockey. NBA players return home like old war heroes. This isn't a knock against UNI, but I suspect they are probably just overmatched.

Not only are there current players playing for UNI, but there are also players from the past few seasons playing that have graduated. I think they are allowed to play because they are under a certain age.

I believe it has to be players that played during the 2006/2007 season. I also don't believe that the incoming recruits (freshman) are allowed to play. UNI's roster includes the seniors, juniors, sophomores, redshirt freshmen, as well as Stout and McKowen who both graduated.

All NCAA schools are allowed to play in an overseas tournament in the summer once every 4 years. UNI hadn't played overseas since Australia 4 years ago so they were eligible. They still had to follow NCAA rules which restricted them to having only 10 practices before these games. The teams they are playing have professionals on the team and dont have to follow the NCAA 10 practice limit. UNI also has several players banged up.
