Eliott will stay around long enough to make sure Iowa fails. He hates Iowa and he will do everything in his power to return the state to Cyclone glory. He will expose Freerents for what he really is - a fraud coach in a fraud conference.

Ferentz is a fraud? All they do is win with simple and consistent schemes and coaching. If thats a fraud, then whats "real"?

MoWilly is correct with the choice and reasoning. Its Elliot. Great secondary coach, good recuiter. Ash was a good secondary coach and a great recruiter. He'll keep the connections in Cali going.

Great defensive coaches - even just good ones - are a valuable commodity. I'm sure schools were lined up to hire Elliott after he was fired at SDSU.
So...where's he coaching these days? Who do we have to hire him away from? I'm sure he's coaching somewhere, right?

You have no backing on either of you final staements. Over the past 10 years Ferentz has had some very solid football teams made up of mediocre recruits that he and his staff develop into fantastic football players. I hate Iowa as much as the next guy, but Ferentz is in no way, shape or form a fraud. As for the Big Ten I think you need to look at what they have done in bowls this past year and also look at their record in the past 10 year against what I am sure you would call the best conference, the SEC. The Big Ten is not a fraud conference. The perception of it was done in by a few incredibly bad performances. It is a conference rich in tradition and a conference that is very well run. It is run significantly better than the Big 12. You will say the top end is better in the Big 12 then you will go on to complain about what got it there, the money distribution.

Elliot is going to expose Ferentz and make sure iowa fails by being a position coach at ISU? Drugs are fun.

Bob is NOT unemployed! He is still employed by SDSU in the Athletic Dept just not a member of the FB coaching staff. He had a two year contract and SDSU. He would move back to Iowa in a heartbeat. He has told me so numerous times over the past year. I hope CPR hires him ASAP.

They could also move Shane Burnham to the secondary and hire a new D-line coach. They could also have Wally coach the secondary and move Coach Bray or Shane to the LB or then hire a new LB coach. I guess my point is they have options.

Right, I think they need to find the best guy out there on the defensive side that makes sense and adjust.

Elliot is 56, and a cancer survivor. I doubt he's looking at climbing anyplace right now. He could well be a long-term hire for I State if he ends up here. Being back near friends and family gets important.

Right on Ketle Voice of the MN Farmer! Bob's parents still live in Iowa City. His son works in a bank in Coralville. I hope this deal is announced Monday or ASAP so we can move forward.

Isn't shane the DT coach? I believe Bray is the DL coach.
Right now Bray coaches the ends coach and Shane coaches the tackles but both have more experience else where. Bray coached LB's at Pitt and Temple and Shane coached OLB's and DE's at his last job. I am sure with his dads guidance he could coach any position on the D.

I say we hire Seantrell Henderson's HS coach. He hasn't signed with USC yet.

Would love to have Elliott back at ISU, he's intense and a fighter (in a good way) in football and in life. Somebody said the Big 10 had a good bowl season. Well better than usual at 4-3, but when you take a look at their wins, it wasn't too impressive. Ohio State beat Oregon, but the Pac 10 turned out to be a joke in almost all of their bowl games this year with 3 of their top teams, Oregon State, California, and Arizona getting absolutely pounded. Iowa won over a team that attempted 2 passes in the first 3 quarters, went 2-9 for 12 yards in the game, yet Iowa had to score a late td to put the game away against a team that could not pass. And Penn State and Wisconsin's wins came on a wet field so littered with loose sod that it looked like a cow lot. If the field had been any worse I might have picked those slower big 10 teams against the Colts. Yes 4-3 is a great bowl season by big 10 standards, but they can't expect those kind of breaks in most years.

They beat two conference champions. They won their biggest four games. Who cares what the field conditions they were? They won 2 BCS games. I guess you can spin it however you want to make it look bad though. Look at there losses. Northwestern had an opportunity to beat Auburn. MSU had a shot at TT while missing a bunch of players, and Minnesota could have beaten us. You can say whatever you want but the Big Ten is getting better.

Yup. The Big Ten did well this year. There's really no way to say they didn't.
