Chelsea Gauger, 19, of Ankeny was ecstatic to clinch the Miss Iowa USA title last month, but victory was bittersweet because her mother and biggest fan, Elizabeth, died of skin cancer just a few weeks before.
The Iowa State University sophomore will compete in Sunday’s Miss USA pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The pageant will be telecast on NBC.
The winner will represent the United States in the Miss Universe competition.

Who ever said Iowa State doesn't have hot girls there? Nothing sexier than a girl in Cyclone apparel IMO. Plus they are 25% less likely to have an STD then their skanky iowa hawkeye counterparts!
