NCAA- Changes to Transfer Rules

A separate thread for this.

The NCAA rejected a proposal to require grad transfer scholarships to count for two years. I know it was suspected that this would fail, but now it's official

They also voted to allow players to transfer immediately if the coach of their team leaves, and they are enrolled in summer school.

Additionally, walkons can now transfer without restriction.

All good choices imho.

Friday OT #1 - You're Just a Turd Out There

I had to leave a company a voicemail this morning, and had the same problem that I always do - I start off strong and organized, I think of a bunch of extra information that I feel like I need to add in, and then it devolves into this mess of word vomit through which someone has to sort. Voicemail is my kryptonite, I'm just terrible at it.

Are there every day activities that you have to do on occasion and are just the worst at it, no matter how you try and prepare in advance?

ISU Rugby - Conf. Champs, Qualify for Elite 8 to Compete for National Championship

Fanatics,

Iowa State Men's Rugby went undefeated in their conference this year and earned a 3 seed in the Elite 8, which is the national tournament at their level. The tournament is in Greenville, NC starting April 20, and being a club team, they are looking to raise funds to pay for the trip. The trip will cost around $16,000. They are about 2/3 of the way there, and any support the Fanatics can offer would be awesome.

The Rugby Club worked with the ISU Foundation to facilitate donations through the foundation, and they have instructions on how to earmark a donation to the rugby club, through the Foundation, on their Facebook page, here:

This is a great achievement for Iowa State Men's Rugby! Well done, men, and bring home that Championship! The general FB page is here: https://www.facebook.com/Iowa-State-Mens-Rugby-27229877301/

Brief Survey for feedback on Cyclone Fanatic Shirts

Hey guys. I have a pretty brief 10 question survey for you to fill out. Only takes 3-4 minutes to fill out. It is mainly about where you buy your Iowa State apparel and some questions about the Legends line we are starting and kicked off with Kyle Kempt.

What we would like to do, especially with the Legends line, is work it out to sell those in stores like Cy's Locker Room, etc. I'd like to get some feedback at where are the most popular locations Iowa State fans shop at and that will give me good feedback on where our first targets should be and can even show those stores some numbers on people interested in those shirts. Also getting a little feedback on what former players you'd most be excited about seeing.

As a thanks for the filling out the survey, there is a coupon code at the end of the survey for 20% your next order at the Cyclone Fanatic store and it can be used on the latest Kyle Kempt tee. Thanks!

Multi State Opioid Bust

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/depart...nal-prescription-opioid-strike-force-arrests/

Pretty big bust by the Appalachian Regional Prescription Strike Force focusing on medical professionals running pill mills, covers 11 states. Hopefully they put the hammer down on these idiots. They apparently thought they were untouchable. A few details...

Thirty-one doctors, seven pharmacists and eight nurse practitioners were charged on Wednesday

The indictment states one doctor in the Western District of Tennessee, who called himself the "Rock Doc," would exchange opioids and benzodiazepines with patients in return for sexual favors. Over a three-year period this doctor prescribed approximately 500,000 hydrocodone pills, 300,000 oxycodone pills, 1,500 fentanyl patches, and more than 600,000 benzodiazepine pills.

A 30-year-old patient in Alabama allegedly overdosed after being prescribed more than 800 oxycodone pills over two months prior to her death, whereupon the doctor who prescribed them allegedly directed the patient's husband to dispose of all pill bottles before police arrived at the scene.

The indictment lists other alleged abuses by medical professionals that include filling fraudulent prescriptions, prescribing opioids to known addicts, and providing Facebook friends with opioid prescriptions based on messenger requests.

T-Mobile in Iowa/Central Iowa

It seems as though there's been quite a bit of movement recently with T-Mobile in Iowa that should have increased signal strength/coverage. Late last year, iWireless was shutdown and everything was supposed to have been moved exclusively to T-Mobile. Anyway, it's seemingly impossible to get current information, reviews, etc. from people in the state that use T-Mobile and I'm hoping that some CF's can chime in with their experiences. TIA.

Legacy Basketball Recruits

Just thinking we missed on Harrison a few years ago. We didn't go after Jaire Grayer. Which is fine. However, Right now I know a few coming up.

We have Ben Carlson coming up who we are after pretty hard.

After that the other ones I have seen in person

Bowen Borne. Currently mid level recruit because of height. Volume scorer. Someone will get a gem with him. He is one of those kids that could make his name in the NCAA tourney. His game is similar to Stef Curry. Don't think I am saying he is that good because he is not. However, just to compare, he has long long range, hits at a good clip, quick, and can defend Ok.

The two I can't wait to see is Curtis Stinson Jr. He is probably a 7th grader right now. Can't remember. He is a stud. I have seen him several times when my kid played at Kingdom hoops. Spitting image of his dad. Even was hitting the floater in 4th grade.

Jake Sullivans Biological son. Little red head kid that can hit the 3 pointer like crazy (Imagine that). Used to play on the same team as little Curtis. Can't wait to see those two develop. Anyone know of any other legacy recruits we have out there? Doesn't Fizer have a kid that is pretty good?

Job Interview: What questions cause you the most anxiety?

For me, it has to be "What is your greatest strength?" or "What are your weaknesses?"

For the first one, I have a tendency to be humble to a fault. I don't perceive myself to be the best at anything, or even remarkably good. Just adequate at many things. I feel most employers I have interviewed for are unimpressed by this response.

For number 2, I feel like all of my actual weaknesses are enough to eliminate from any job considerations. For my weaknesses, although I normally just bs something else, I am perpetually late (not late-late, but like 2-3 minutes daily) and I am not a people person . I feel like it is hard to bring up any of these things without the interviewer immediately sending some sort of body signal to me that I shouldn't have said what I said.

Does anyone have any tried and true work-arounds for these questions?
