Bring Her Back (new horror movie)

Horror movie fans. Oof.

Not sure who’s seen the trailer for this new horror movie. I don’t take horror movies lightly. I love a few. Hate a lot more. But I love going to them.

This is one of the most ****** up visceral grotesque disturbing yet at the same time incredibly sad and visually stunning horror movies I can recall.

Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (Shape of Water) is absolutely brilliant in this role and while she won’t be nominated for awards because it’s a horror movie she should be. She’s better than Toni Collette in Hereditary in my opinion.

Won’t be for everyone. I don’t do body horror to well and this is next level. No joke I spent probably 15 honest minutes not able to look at the screen.

But for general horror fans this is a must. It’s just a really truly well done movie that happens to be horror amped up. This will stick with me awhile.

2025 WTT

Seeds are out. Wrestling starts on the 16th.

Looks like Carr should have a bye and will likely face Caliendo in the semis. After that would likely have Jacques or Monday in the finals. Should be Carr next topic setting up a 2/3 with Messenbrink at Final X.

Coleman has a small but STACKED bracket. He’ll wrestle Keckeisen first round.

Ian Parker got the 3 seed and he’ll face Ridge Lovett in the first round. That will be a tough one.

Gutter Recommendations?

There are 2 parts of my roof that don't have gutters on them for some stupid reason. One is right over the door to my patio, so if I need to go out after a rain I always get drops on my head. The other is in the front and I can kind of understand why they didn't put a gutter/downspout there to preserve the curb appeal.

Am half tempted to try to DIY it, but wondering if there are any good gutter companies out there that aren't going to rip me off for what should only be like 24' total of gutters.

On That Note: Catch

Apologies to OTN contributors for the delay this week. The holiday, combined with my life & work flow, we decided to push it back a couple of days.

This week, we are looking for songs with the following in title or lyrics: catch, caught, grab, seize, clench, grip, hook, capture.

Inspiration for the topic: Last Friday, I was in St. Louis for Battlehawks game and in pregame I caught a pass from our very own former ISU QB Seneca Wallace.

"On That Note” is presented weekly by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

HVAC complaint

So now that it's starting to heat up, I turned on the AC last night and it wouldn't come on. The AC unit is only 2 1/2 years old and I had the HVAC company do an annual checkup on my AC unit just a few weeks ago, so I wasn't very happy. Of course, this all happens on a Friday night so all I get is the company's answering machine and I know there's no way I can get one of their techs to come fix it until Monday at the very earliest. Meanwhile, the temps are supposed to be mid-80s today and near 90 on Sunday and Monday.

After spending a few hours poking around trying to diagnose the problem, I discovered the issue. When the HVAC tech came to our house a few weeks ago to do the AC checkup, he inserted the breaker thing upside down into the AC power box on the side of my house, so the unit had no power. I re-inserted it right side up into the power box and the AC popped on just fine. Now I'm wondering if I should call the HVAC company back and leave another message indicating that I fixed their error, or if I should just let them do a service call to see if they can identify their own screw up and see if they try to charge me for it.

I'm tempted to do the latter because I'm a little pissed about another issue. When this HVAC company did their annual checkup on my AC, they told me the run capacitor on my unit is starting to get weak (again, the unit is only 2 1/2 years old). They recommended that I have them install a new Soft Start Kit ($323.51) and High Performance Run Capacitor ($319.82) for a total of $643.33 plus tax. Now I know little about HVAC, but I'm pretty sure I can pick up a brand new capacitor for around $30 and install it myself after watching a YouTube video.

It just torks me off how these companies rip folks off. I'm still trying to decide if I should let them come to my house to see if they charge me for fixing their own screw up.
