Recruiting: Iowa State's latest offer to a DL out of Minnesota, 20 FBS offers - none from Minn.

Will gable vents help with creaking attic?

Yes I am asking the wisdom of CF. Basically I have a large south-facing wall (20') on my house with the roof onto of that (maybe 12' bottom to top for the roof) so its a large (32' total) wind catching structure with nothing to block it.

Last 2 years, any wind over 20 MPH makes the roof/wall creak like a mother. It's driving me mad. I've had a few attic contractors come take a look but nobody really says anything definitive. Maybe add some reinforcement 2x4s?

My latest idea that is some added attic ventilation will allow more airflow and no cause the roof to 'catch' wind and creak? Gable vents specifically but maybe some more sofet vents will also help? What say you CF?

The “She Will” Collective

I’m proposing that we choose an Iowa State sport to aupport that we can actually make in to an Iowa State dynasty. My sport:

Women’s Soccer

-It wouldn’t take much scrilla to pull in the top recruits.

-Our “She Will” NIL fund can also help to procure top overseas and Canadian talent by funding trips and camps there

-In women's soccer, having two main pieces can lead to a dynasty 1) GK, 2) Striker. We can splash the Benjamin’s on these positions and back fill the other positions with cheap and plentiful local/regional talent

-in this model, the “She Willers” should get to meet with the coaching staff to identify recruits, transfer targets, and give input on both strategy and tactics (“I’m not paying to park the bus coach!”)

-She Willers can look forward to prime tailgating locations before and after matches.

-She Willers will also commit yo providing 3 custom tifos per season at home matches

-A portion of the “She Will” fund MAY be used to increase student fan support (and buy them beer)

-We will be looking for an official food/beverage establishment to accommodate game watches for away matches televised on ESPN+

-NCAA tournament appearances will invoke clauses pertaining to custom “She Will” NIKE merchandise

Looking forward to any input from anyone interested in this exciting waste of money! Go State!

Our screwed-up heath care system

On Monday, my wife while at work, collapsed while walking, her right knee popped, and she could not put any weight on her knee. They had to wheel her out to a coworker's car in an office chair and took her to the ER. Do an X-ray and put her in a brace and send her home with crutches, telling her to set up an appointment with her doctor in a few days. Last few days she is struggling to walk around, brace is too small for her and keeps sliding down, holding it up with an ace bandage.

So, she missed work this entire week, sitting on the couch, struggling to get up the stairs at night and the rest of it. Today, I have to take a day off work to take her to the doctor, she cannot drive and hell, cannot get in and out of the car without help. Get right in to see the doctor, she says she should not be in a brace, promotes swelling in the knee, and since the X-ray showed no broken bones, it's a tendon or ligament that was damaged and we need an MRI to determine that. They can do the MRI today, if Blue Cross OKs it, so they send us back out in the waiting room, we hang around another 30 minutes, and the nurse comes out and tells us that "BC wants her to do physical therapy first, and then if there is still a problem, we will do an MRI."

So now she will be doing PT for a couple of weeks to determine if there is a problem in the knee, instead of just having the MRI, and then determining a treatment plan off the data from the MRI.
Welcome to the American Healthcare system.

Friday OT: A game to remember

Because Angie is out this week. I was asked to fill in for the Friday OT thread.

I tend to remember things/events in reference to ISU events/games ,etc. Does anybody else do this? Example: I bought my car the day that Iowa State beat TCU back in 2019. I was watching the game on the TV in the dearlership showroom while the paperwork was process.

What things do you tend to remember because of an ISU game or event?

I'm sure there have been other polls in the past about donating but with recent news wanted to get a pulse check from the CF community on who does/doesn't donate to Iowa State athletics. Maybe those in the know with the Athletic Department or the "collective" can use this information to help with their fundraising campaigns.

For me personally I fall under the ,"Yes - I donate only required minimum but have the ability to donate more (can be to AD, NIL, etc.)" category.

After seeing the numbers out there about our fanbase rank among our conference peers and what it would take for us to compete in the NIL market, it is eye opening. I'm not a fan of "paying to be a fan" but maybe we need a mindset change. I know I can do better. I love Iowa State and want it to stay competitive.

Cubs Streaming Sites

Hey fellow Cyclone fans. I was hoping some of you that enjoy baseball as much as I do would know of any streaming sites to stream Cubs games on. I have Hulu and they have not brought Marquee back which is extremely disappointing. Also, looked into FuboTV and spending 60 a month for Cubs games seems like a stretch. Does anyone have any sites you utilize for games? Reddit doesn’t have mlb streams anymore and that was always my go to. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Nick Bassett Perseverance Award

Pretty awesome way for Iowa State to honor Nick. Amped to see the helmet decals on the field in September.
