One week after landing one top 100 recruit, Iowa State women’s basketball has solidified another.
Two-time NAIA Player of the Year and former top 100 recruit Stephanie Soares announced today that she would be finishing her collegiate career out at Iowa State.
The 6-foot-6 forward played her first seasons for The Master’s University, helping her squad to the NAIA Elite Eight.
Her big frame and all-around skillset is as unique as it gets. In her first game with the school, Soares recorded a record 10 blocks and later scored 35 points and 22 rebounds in a conference title game.
Oh, and she can shoot the three, too:
Soares is a native of Brazil, and further cements the already booming international pipeline that Bill Fennelly has built with the program.
She’ll join current Cyclone post player Beatriz Jordao, a Portugal native, in Ames.
Soares is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining and will be immediately eligible to take the court for Iowa State in November of 2022.
