Stewart Mandel’s (LOSER) Big 12 predictions: Is it K-State’s year in a conference of change?

Some notes:

Has K-State going 10-2 and winning the conference.

Title game: K-State over Baylor.

Iowa State at 7-5 (5-4)

TCU/Texas finishing 4-8 with 2 conference wins a piece.

OU going 7-5 and 5-4 in conf.

The funniest thing about it all- Stewie has Nebraska predicted to go 4-8 and with OU at 7-5 it means that Nebraska has to lose to GA Southern/North Dakota or OU has to lose to Kent State/UTEP. His excuse? Nebraska having to fly back from Ireland.

His order of finish:

K-State
Baylor
Oklahoma State
Oklahoma
Iowa State
West Virginia
Tx Tech
KANSAS
Texas
TCU

I was a sophomore in High school, and this is only the 3rd time I've said this in my life (2014 being the first).... I feel old.

I can't tell you how many times I have watched this game over the years, and this was the year I went from casual to a pretty hardcore football fan. Despite how it ended, I felt like it was one our greatest years:

Florida State
Beating both Iowa and Nebraska
The Run
#9 ranking

How Iowa State’s T.J. Otzelberger plans to keep building in Year 2

Article from today on The Athletic:

Some quotes that stood out to me:

On Osunniyi:
"We think he can facilitate some offense. And then also we’re going to empower him to shoot the 3, which he hadn’t done yet in his career. But we feel like with his stroke and the work he’s put in, he’s made a lot of progress there. So it’s something we’re going to ask of him offensively."

How to improve offensively:
"We turn people over a lot. We’ve got to do a better job scoring off turnovers than we did last year. So that’s specifically scoring in advantage situations, converting and transition, that sort of thing. I also think we need to keep the ball on the move a little bit more, and not be as apt to catch and hold, catch and dribble. Get it side to side, get the defense to force more closeouts. And I think the third way is on the offensive glass we can be more effective"

On the freshman:
"They’ll all earn minutes for us this year. They all will. On one end of it, based on what happened last year in the Big 12, that’s scary because there were really only three freshmen that played in the entire league last year."

On the 2023 Recruiting class:
"You can sell hope or you can sell what it’s going to be like. And I think when people see it work, then that creates a different level of belief in what can actually happen."

On the Tyrese situation and how to avoid it:
"Part of the challenge with Tyrese was that he signed with the previous coaching staff. So we didn’t have the time out in front to build that relationship and that trust quite the same way as you do in a normal recruiting process. It was speed dating. So we didn’t have that same investment in one another that you normally have."

On That Note: Future Tense

Welcome to another edition of “On That Note,” CF’s weekly music series, co-hosted by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

With football season approaching in the near "future" for all of us we figured that word made for a great topic.

So this week we are looking at songs with future in the title or lyrics. We will also include the word tomorrow as well since it's a future reference.

Last Week's Topic: On That Note: The Weight

Jefferson will be nice,...but LeClaire will be the place to be!!!!

The Mississippi River Distilling Company is the bomb, CF is the fuse.

T-Mobile 5G Internet

Looking to possibly move on from Mediacom for my ISP. Recently received direct mail piece that T-Mobile 5G internet is available at my residence for $50/mo.

Has anyone tried and what was your experience? Based on what I have seen online, the speed isn't the best, but adequate for home that might only have 1 or 2 simultaneous streams. My home is < 1 mile from the main cell tower in area, not sure that matters.

YouTube TV Getting Ability to Split Into 4 Screens

This would be a major feature advancement! Hope it happens soon!

Deer Hunt for child that is ill or disabled.

Do you know a child that is ill or disabled who would like to go deer hunting? I am looking for a candidate for this year’s youth hunt. Child must be an Iowa resident and be able to shoot a gun unassisted. If you know someone interested please email [email protected]. The last 4 years the kids have all gotten really nice bucks.

Tailgating At Oklahoma is going ELITE (Not the Good Elite)

Josh Pate talked about this on his show and I have seen @ChrisMWilliams bring this up, but these media rights deals keep on getting bigger and we the fans keep on getting asked to shell out more money. The Big 10 is making a billion per year and the SEC is not far behind.
I know Iowa State is doing some renovations to tailgating with the RV lot or the Pollard and light district but I have talked with my buddy (we both graduated Iowa State in 16 & 17) and we both are thinking what I feel a lot us are that it is making it harder to care when the greater powers that be (ESPN/ FOX) spit in your face constantly along with certain college admins & athletic departments. I don't mean Jamie or Iowa State, I know they make tough decisions (moving lots, SEZ project, etc). Ranty post but something I feel most of us are thinking. could be wrong. Also Pate love IState watch his stuff if you can and @ChrisMWilliams should have him on the pod if possible!

Cadillac vs Lincoln

Browsing cars online is a bit of a hobby of mine. Sometime down the road I'd like to buy either a Lincoln on Cadillac sedan. In your opinion, which is the better option? I found the article below interesting; my initial thoughts are Lincoln as they seem to be more reliable, but Cadillacs seem more luxurious on the interior.

This is just a general question about each brand. I don't have a specific model or year I'm eyeing for each. 2014 or later are the general years I'm checking out.
