INTERVIEWS: KEVIN DRESSER & GARRETT GRICE

Hi! Below you will find interviews with Dresser and Garrett Grice! Post day one recaps.

Whirlpool Ice Maker Fix or Replace?

I went to get some ice out of our ice maker indoor hopper this morning and the hopper wasn't full like it usually is. I opened the lid to find ice cubes sitting on top of the fingers that rotate and remove the cubes from the tray so they can fall into the hopper. It never completed its full cycle as water never refilled the cube tray. Basically im guessing it just quit/died. I am a DIY guy to a degree but wonder if its just best to replace the whole thing, the ice maker that it is. I did replace it about at least 5 or more years ago. I could throw a circuit board at it, a motor. etc. but by the time I do that I've probably wasted more time and money than getting are replacement. I dare not get a tech to come out an look at it as the service call alone would probably pay for cost of a new one.

Your favorite ISU NCAA tourney game(s)

So many different eras of ISU basketball have been very fun to watch. One of my favorite ISU games in the NCAA tournament was against 3 seed Cincinnati in 1997. Willoughby was deadly from downtown, Pratt was one of the most unique power forwards of all time, Cato was a shot blocking machine, Bankhead was a lockdown defender, and Holloway was great at protecting and dishing the ball.

EDIT: I'm re-watching this game and at the 1:03:00 mark, Kenny Pratt drives and draws a foul. Cincy's coach yells "you can't guard him?" at his player. Thought that was pretty funny.

In memoriam

Every year, it seems, one or more of the people mentioned in the in-memoriam segment of the Oscars catches me by surprise. This year, it was Val Kilmer, who I had no idea had died. All in all, it was a bad year for iconic actors as we lost Robert Duvall, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, Kilmer, Claudia Cardinale, Michael Madsen, Catherine O'Hara and Bridget Bardot, not to mention one of the greatest film directors of all time in Rob Reiner.

Bracket Predictions 2025-26

I refuse to name this thread 'bracketology' because it implies it's Lunardi and Palm, and it's not. And if there is already a general bracket prediction thread for this season, feel free to move this! NOTE: This isn't a thread about metrics and NET etc (those threads are amazing FYI), this is just thread about where pundits have the bracket shaping up on a weekly basis.

I'm guilty of posting Lunardi and Palm and their brackets, but they are seriously very bad at it. Anyone can add their updates here, I just hope everyone knows how bad they are at this...

Here are the some of the ones to pay attention to (per @NiceMarmot a year or two ago!):
  1. Dave Ommen at Bracketville
  2. Lukas Harkins at HeatCheckCBB
  3. Delphi Bracketology
  4. Rocco Miller at Bracketeer
  5. Bauertology (really good at explaining why teams are where they are)
  6. T3
  7. Five Star
  8. NKY
If there are others you like to follow every week, feel free to link in a response!

NOTE: Edited and added BRACKET MATRIX link as it's always one that people ask about.

***Auto-Bid Madness 2026***

It’s time for CycloneFanatic’s annual “Auto-Bid Madness." I’m co-administrator, along with @ImJustKCClone, spreadsheet extraordinaire.

It's the 13th year for the contest.

Summary
Choose the automatic qualifier for each of 31 conferences for the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Deadline format
We have two separate deadlines for submitting picks, based on the two-week tournament schedule cycle. Contestants are free to submit picks for both groups by the first deadline, if they desire. (See “Conference Template” below).

Scoring
Each correct pick receives 1 point.

Tiebreaker system
Primary: Correct Big 12 tournament champ.
Secondary: If you correctly pick a team nobody else did. If still tied, it could extend to multiple cases, if applicable.
Tertiary: Highest number of correct picks that aren’t favorites (i.e., teams seeded #1 in their respective tournament).

CONFERENCE TEMPLATE
To streamline record-keeping, post your selections in the precise order as presented, within each group. Include your CF screen name at the top. Post your picks in this thread, do not PM them. You may revise selections at any time until the deadline. If you do make a revision, we request tagging @ImJustKCClone. Typically, we begin compiling entries shortly after they're submitted.

All-time AP Poll Update

With the release of this week's AP Poll, ISU Men's Basketball jumps LSU to move to spot #48.

It's been a massive climb this season, considering the program started the year just above DePaul in spot #50. At this rate, the boys should finish either just ahead or just behind Stanford at #47. With a strong season next year they could catch the big block of B12 teams in spots #41-44.
