Every year, it seems, one or more of the people mentioned in the in-memoriam segment of the Oscars catches me by surprise. This year, it was Val Kilmer, who I had no idea had died. All in all, it was a bad year for iconic actors as we lost Robert Duvall, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, Kilmer, Claudia Cardinale, Michael Madsen, Catherine O'Hara and Bridget Bardot, not to mention one of the greatest film directors of all time in Rob Reiner.

Every year it seems like we lose several of the biggies, but this year seemed different. They spent much more time on In Memoriam this year than they normally do.

Gene Hackman too right? Or was that last year?

What's happened is I feel like more are going that I grew up watching (80's kid) so it's imo actually sad to see them go.

Just watched the tribute to Rob Reiner. I agree with a youtube comment that read "I don't know how many more of these Billy's heart can take."
