What music are you listening to right now?

I feel like there are quite a few music aficionados on CF and I have even discovered new bands on here. I wanted to start a thread where we could share what we are currently listening to and just talk music.

I couldn't find another thread like this but admittedly I haven't used the search function a whole lot.

I will start. Currently listening through City and Colour's If I Should Go Before You album and am really enjoying it!

In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

The Pokey Stix thread got me thinking about all the places I miss in Ames that have closed. What are yours?

Off the top of my head:

Gumby's: Pokey Stix and Pepperoni rolls
HomeTeam Pizza: Dirt cheap drunk food, 3 mediums for $10. Plus they had a cheesy commercial shot at Sterling.
Angies: Didn't seem to last long but that was a great after bar spot, always packed, good breakfast.
La Fuente: Margarita Challenge! Solid mexican food, although El Azteca topped it when they came to town.
The Truck Stop: Great food just a little out of the way. Cyclone Slam ftw
Battles: The original location, went downhill a bit once they moved to Welch and owner died.

Elwood Drive: Screw University Boulevard.

What’s In the Bag? ***GOLF EQUIPMENT THREAD***

Driver: Ping G400 or Titleist TS3 both set to 9.5 degrees
PXG 0311 3H driving iron
3 wood - Cleveland Launcher - 15 degree
Hybrid 4 - Callaway Apex - 21 degree

Irons - TM M6 - 5-PW - steel shaft (also have the “A” gapper but don’t normally carry it)
Wedges - Vokey’s SM5 & SM6 - 54 & 58 & 60
Putter - Ping Anser 1 - Traxion Pistol Grip
Balls - TM TP5 (just switched from Pro V1’s last season)

MBB season tkt renewal

Opened up my email saw that the AD has raised the prices on the bottom 5 rows of the balcony all the way around the balcony, in addition to what I'm pretty sure was a overall tkt raise. The price of success I guess.
Haven't seen WBB prices yet, but if they went up it's just a money grab, the product on the court lately hasn't demanded a price increase and last yrs mass defections didn't help anything.

What's streaming that's good TV/movies

With no sports and peeps recommended to stay at home, what are you watching or have watched that you can recommend?

I finished Altered Carbon 2 last week. Netflix. Would recommend if you have watched season 1. New story but would be way easier to understand if you've watched the previous. Good sci-fi.

Thinking of checking out the South Korean "Kingdom", also on Netflix.

Obsession (new movie)

Went and saw the new horror movie Obsession this weekend. Pretty unheard of A- score from audience polls...for a horror movie that is very rare.

On its surface, the movie delivers great gory thrills, but the director and writer have actually crafted a devastating takedown of modern male entitlement and the toxic "Nice Guy" complex. While the film plays with the "crazy girlfriend" trope, the real monster isn't the girl at all.

As a social commentary, the film offers a fascinating, uncomfortable look at modern dating and the illusion of consent. It’s a brilliant horror film because the threat isn't a masked killer, it's the terrifyingly familiar face of a man who believes he is owed a woman’s heart. One of the best horror movies in a while and the two main characters I've never heard of but they are incredible and will both be stars.

***Official St. Louis Cardinals Thread***

Gonna get this started since I don’t think anybody’s made one since last year. Interested to hear thoughts on the direction the organization is going in.

They want to focus on getting youth playing time and they’ve kind of took steps toward that but they’ve also haven’t. They still have Matz and Mikolas taking rotation spots (although I think Matz will be in the bullpen). Gray and Contreras were approached to see if they wanted to be traded and they want to stay. Helsley and Fedde have been held onto. Goldy not resigned, Arenado trade rumors are ramping up again. Contreras move to 1B allows Herrera and Pages to be the tandem at C. The hold up that in my opinion needs to happen is the Arenado trade. There’s a snowball effect of that move to get more young guys time. It allows Gorman to get the 600 at bats the organization wants at his natural position, Donavan everyday 2B, Nootbaar in LF (better corner outfielder than CF), mix between Scott/Siani in CF, and Walker everyday at bats in RF, Burleson a split between 1B/DH/OF, Saggese regular at bats. As far as pitchers go, McGreevy needs to be given 150+ innings as a starter (which is why I think Matz will be in the bullpen). We’ll see Quinn Matthews early this year too if he continues to excel in AAA. Tink Hence, health willing, will see time at the end of the year. So they’re still kind of still stuck in neutral of this “reset” with Arenado still on the team and when he moves then I think they’re headed in the direction they want. This year is all about seeing what these young guys have and if it’s something Chain Bloom can build on right away or he has a lot of work to do.

The Beat Reporters: Wiggins injury, front court depth, 2018 Drake throwback

Switching phone carriers

T-Mobile is forcing customers (not all but 8M I think) into a new plan even if you didn't ask for it, and increasing monthly plan cost. They have been pretty good overall but service is kind of hit and miss. Wondering what everyone things of the other big carriers like AT&T and Verizon. Specifically for anyone in MN but happily will listen to others in terms of customer service, issues, cost of plans, perks, etc.
