RECRUITING: Cyclones earn second DL commitment after visit weekend in Brysen Wessell

AMES – Iowa State secured its second commitment from its second official visit weekend with the addition of Brysen Wessell, a defensive lineman out of Jackson, Missouri. The 3-star prospect announced his pledge to the Cyclones on Sunday afternoon via social media.

Wessell chose Iowa State over a lengthy list of offers, including Arkansas State, Central Michigan, James Madison, Lindenwood, Missouri State, Missouri Western State (D2), Southeast Missouri State, Southern Illinois, UT Martin, Wake Forest, Washington State, Western Illinois, and Western Michigan.

He is rated as the No. 83 defensive line prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.

What it means: The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Wessell becomes the third defensive
lineman to commit to Iowa State’s 2026 class, joining Ajibola Afuye and Daniel Howard.

With his size, length, and strength, Wessell adds more depth and versatility to the defensive front as the Cyclones continue to build out a well-rounded class.
