RECRUITING: Trey Verdon becomes second ’25 commit for Iowa State

Iowa State earned its second commitment to the 2025 recruiting class in Ohio defensive lineman Trey Verdon Tuesday.

The younger brother to current Cyclone defensive back Malik Verdon made things official over social media.

By the end of Verdon’s recruiting process, he amassed a lengthy offer sheet. The defensive lineman chose the Cyclones over Louisville, Pittsburgh, East Carolina, Ohio, Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State, UMass, Miami (Ohio), Toledo, Princeton and Yale.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound commit is rated as the No. 71 defensive lineman in his recruiting class.

During his visit to Ames this fall, Verdon took notice to how Iowa State fans treated his older brother.

“They’re like family to him,” Verdon said. “From what I’ve seen, when he walks around, people and fans just walk around saying, ‘oh hey, Malik.’ Literally, everyone says ‘hi’ to him. He says he loves it and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Verdon joins Algona quarterback Alex Manske as commitments to the 2025 class at Iowa State.
