Rose invited to Cleveland Browns camp

Former Iowa State linebacker Mike Rose is getting another shot at the National Football League.

The 2020 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection has been invited to camp with the Cleveland Browns. Rose spent the spring playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL.

Rose is the second former Iowa State player to turn his XFL success into another chance at the best football league on the planet, joining Hakeem Butler, who signed a multi-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers after his breakout season in St. Louis.

Rose, a native of Brecksville, Ohio, tallied 35 tackles, including 15 solo stops, while appearing in every game for St. Louis as a rookie.

He finished his collegiate career as one of the most decorated defenders in Iowa State history. In his career, Rose racked up 321 tackles, 41 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, six interceptions and a forced fumble. His 41 tackles for loss rank second in program history.
