Butler receives invite to Steelers camp

After a dominant performance during the XFL season, Hakeem Butler is getting another shot at the National Football League.

The former Cyclone wide receiver has received an invite to camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers after a stellar 10-game run with the St. Louis Battlehawks.

The Baltimore native was one of the best offensive weapons in the league, catching 51 passes for 599 yards and eight touchdowns during the 10-game slate. He showed off his big-play ability on multiple occasions with long catch and runs to help the Battlehawks have one of the league’s best records.

Butler was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft after leaving Iowa State following his junior season. A broken hand prevented him from making the roster that season, but he did end with the Eagles, appearing in two games in 2020.
