RECRUITING: Iowa State’s recruiting success continues with Florida DE’s commitment

Iowa State’s run of recruiting success to end the month of June has carried into early July.

The Cyclones landed another commitment on Monday when three-star defensive end R Mason Thomas announced his pledge to Matt Campbell’s program on Instagram. This is Iowa State’s fourth commitment in the first six days of July and the program’s ninth commitment since mid-June.

Thomas is considered the No. 611 player in the country, No. 28 edge defender and No. 84 player in Florida by the 247Composite. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Fort Lauderdale native chose Iowa State over offers from South Carolina, Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and a host of other programs.

The Cyclones has now landed edge defenders on consecutive days with Thomas’ commitment following the pledge of Missouri defensive end Ikenna Ezeogu’s on Sunday.

Prior to Thomas’ commitment, Iowa State had the No. 39 class in the country and No. 6 class in the Big 12.
