Despite all of the off the field drama with the future of the Big 12, Iowa State football’s recent recruiting momentum kept pace on Sunday in the form of a running back commitment out of the state of Florida.
Xavier Townsend, listed at 5-10, 170-pounds via 247, announced his commitment to the Cyclones on Sunday via Twitter. He chose Iowa State over finalists UCF, Louisville and Vanderbilt.
Townsend is the 17th prospect to commit to Iowa State’s 2021 recruiting class. He is the first running back.
