The momentum towards the return of Iowa State athletics took another step on Friday.

The Big 12 announced Friday evening it will allow voluntary team activities in campus athletic facilities for football to resume on June 15. Athletes in all other sports will be allowed to return to campuses and resume voluntary team activities on July 1.

Iowa State athletes will still have to adhere to state and local Covid-19 best-health practices, but they will be allowed to return to official team activities for the first time since mid-March.

The league is currently targeting July 15 as the date when winter and spring athletes can return to on-campus facilities. The SEC announced a similar action during the day on Friday.
