Recruiting Roundup: September 4, 2018

Steve Prohm and the Iowa State men’s basketball program picked up their second commitment for the class of 2019.  Power Forward Luke Anderson (Lakeland, Fla.) made the pledge on his official visit this weekend.  He was scheduled to visit Minnesota and Georgia on official visits the next two weekends, it is unclear if he will still take those visits.  ISU offered the No. 40 PF in 2019 on August 8th, 2017.  He held P6 offers from Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Minnesota, Ole Miss and Xavier.  The commitment moves ISU into 26th for the 2019 class rankings.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State has made the top eight for shooting guard P.J. Fuller (Henderson, Nev.) after offering on July 13th.  Joining the Cyclones in the list for the No. 6 rated SG are Florida, Florida State, St. Mary’s, TCU, Texas Tech, UNLV and Washington.

*** The Cyclones hosted and offered 2021 shooting guard Hunter Sallis (Omaha, Neb.) on Saturday.  Sallis is a cousin of current 2019 running back commit Breece Hall and holds other early offers from Creighton and Ole Miss.

*** ISU hosted two in-state prospects for the class of 2020 on Saturday.  Xavier Foster (Oskaloosa) made his second trip in as many weeks to Ames and was joined by Bowen Born (Norwalk).  Foster is a five-star prospect and was offered in October 2016.  Born has not yet been offered by Iowa State, but has been offered by both UNI and Drake.

*** Class of 2020 point guard Zeb Jackson (Maumee, Ohio) listed ISU in a list of schools recruiting him the hardest in an interview with Jake Weingarten of stockrisers.com, along with Arizona State, Butler, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Purdue.  Iowa State offered June 16th.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State made the top six for cornerback Isaiah Essissima on July 30th, and he will announce his decision this week.  The Friday announcement will be between ISU, Boise State, Houston, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt.

*** The Cyclones, Minnesota and Purdue are listed as the top three for athlete Jalen Graham (Detroit, Mich.) this week, according to his 247 Sports profile.  Graham is trying to set up an official with ISU but has not locked in a date yet.  He holds 11 P5 offers, with ISU offering December 17th, 2017.

*** Offensive guard commit Darrell Simmons (East St. Louis, Ill.) took another jump in the ratings this week, moving up 10 spots to the No. 76 OG and 171 spots overall.
