Official visitors will be in Ames this weekend for both basketball and football. The recruiting dead period ends on September 1st and things should start to pick up as football tries to fill out a few more spots and basketball looks to bring in some top targets for a second commitment.
BASKETBALL LATEST:
*** Class of 2020 power forward Xavier Foster (Oskaloosa, Iowa) took a visit to Ames on Saturday. He is rated as the No. 5 PF and No. 25 overall in the class. Iowa State became one of his 11 P6 offers back in October 2016.
*** Cyclone small forward commit Marcedus Leech (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) will take his official visit to Ames for the football opener against South Dakota State on September 1st. Power foward target Luke Anderson (Lakeland, Fla.) will take his official the same weekend.
*** Jared wrote extensively on the changes and focus for ISU’s recruiting efforts this week, which you can read here in the forums.
FOOTBALL LATEST:
*** Iowa State will host two official visitors this weekend. Jalen Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kym-Mani King (New Port Richey, Fla.) will take their first visits to Ames for the season opener as the Cyclones try to fill a defensive back spot for the 2019 class.
*** The Cyclones offered defensive end Zaylin Wood (Bowdon, Ga.) on Monday. The No. 91 SDE in 2019 is currently committed to Temple and holds offers from Arkansas State, Austin Peay and Charlotte.
*** Defensive end Corey Suttle (Jefferson City, Mo.), who committed to ISU on May 28th, was selected to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. Suttle is rated as the No. 47 SDE and No. 749 overall in the 2019 class.
*** Iowa State is in the top 5 for 2020 running back Gavin Williams (Des Moines, Iowa) according to an interview with Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register.
