Iowa State cornerback Brian Peavy was named the co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week and kicker Garret Owens was named the Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Peavy, a native of Houston, Texas, led the team with 10 tackles in Iowa State’s 23-13 win over Baylor. He also added two tackles for loss and a pass breakup to go along with his game-changing strip and fumble recovery near the goal-line to prevent a Bears score.

Owens scored 11 of the team’s 23 points while going 3-of-3 on field goals and 2-of-2 on extra points. Owens is a perfect 41-of-41 on extra points this year and is 15-of-19 on field goals with a long of 45.

Peavy is the third Cyclone to earn Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors this season joining Joel Lanning and Marcel Spears (twice).
