We set up the schedule this year to be a McDermott team, and it's happening.
Prohm looks to be gutting the best Cyclone program we've had. Outstanding.
The Clyburn year we were a 10 seed in the NCAA tournament. I would gladly take that at this point. We are an NIT team this year, no good non-conference wins, probably go 9-9 or 8-10 in the Big 12.
He had a bad year last year but he's always active and you can always toss up garbage for him to put back.
Facilitate what?!?!?!? this team will just pass it around until burton chunks one. They are scared to be physical. He can't drive every possession and get hurt.....its only December. We are undersized (recruiting) and thomas and burton have to play better. this is not Monte's problem.
he was at a mid major power that was good before him. There are examples of guys that succeed in that role (Kennedy who is A&M) but others who you could argue benefitted from having a foundation in place before they got there vs. a guy who led a program in disarray to greater heights.
I was skeptical of the hire and even got blasted last year here for being cautious of Prohm (not saying he was a great coach, etc.). Time will tell but this loss won't help his supporters case.
He really shouldn't be an All-American. Overrated. I love him, but he's not as good as everyone thinks. Talks and talks leading up to this game, and then lays an egg. All-American's don't do that.
Hopefully Prohm will be gone in a couple of years...I dont see Prohm being successful at ISU...its hard to believe but Prohm may end up being worse that Greg McDoormat
I can't believe this forum isn't dripping with "no toughness posts". Everyone wasted it over the past 3 years when we were actually pretty tough.
It's 1 game guys, the sky is not falling. This team is going to live or die by long range shooting and the ability to run fast breaks because there is no post presence what so ever on this roster. Young may develop into that guy eventually but it's a lot to ask of a freshman to carry the entire load of the only guy able to back down someone in the paint and go pound for pound with team's best bigs every night. We'll get exposed in the paint in Big 12 play for sure.
The mistakes this team makes are correctable, it's not executing on offense and not taking care of the ball as well as they have in the past. Someone has to step up and be the guy to carry the team when shots aren't falling like Niang used to do, Morris could be that guy if he would drive to the rim more and get a mean streak too him but he's made his name being a pass first guy so he'll need to shed that mentality and be more selfish when his team is struggling because when defenses have to collapse on his drives guys are going to get wide open looks.
I sure hope we're looking at some Juco big men or something because next year all we have at the moment is Young, Carter, and Kasongo in the post, Young looks promising but Carter has shown us very little and Kasongo only played 5.5 minutes a game at TN last year so not much to be excited about there

Monte is trying to be something he isn't, a scorer. He's a distributor, Coach needs to stop forcing things. Until this battle is figured out, this team will struggle to find it's identity.
