That'll never get out unless the young lady puts it out there. And there's no real reason for her to do that (if it is true).
I lean towards agree, but this might be the top coaching spot in college football (no doubt top 5); If it were to come out whether it be lawsuit or a TMZ type dolling out cash for the story do you really think he could survive that in a place like Texas?

This just keeps getting deeper and deeper. All these coaches probably have never heard of the saying "the only thing guaranteed in a **** throwing contest is that everyone comes out smelling like ****". And boy, this is one of those that I'm going to need a courtesy flush coming up here pretty soon.

It’s been a “rumor” for awhile. Posted on here several times. Herman knocked up a recruiting girl and had her “take care of it” back when he was an assistant here...

I'm well aware this will be splitting hairs in context of this lovely Smith-Herman s**t show going down, but my curiosity is piqued. What the hades kind of phrase is this? Is this some sort of chauvinistic job position in athletic departments leftover from the Mad Men era? What are the qualifications to get such a job? Do "recruiting girls" also have dual-employment at Dangerous Curves? Must they know shorthand? What is the minimum WPM required?

Recruiting girls are the hostesses for recruits that are in town visiting. Essentially, they guide the recruits around the various parts of the visit and make sure they get to where they are going on time. They also answer questions the recruits and their family's have. Think of them as Cyclone Aids for sports recruits. They have been around for a long long time.

Huh, interesting. So they are a real position that exists. They sound like Recruiting Aids, or possibly Recruitment Hosts. And are they always female? If so, that is weird.

Calling them "recruiting girls", well...let's just say such a phrase makes perfect sense coming from Zach Smith's mouth.

I was a tour guide while at ISU and we often coordinated with "recruiting girls" when recruits and their families wanted a tour of campus. They were always female and usually tall and attractive. I'm not hating the game, just stating the facts.

"Recruiting Girls" isn't their formal title, I'll try to look back in one of my old Press Guides from when I played to get their formal name. Yes it is a real position, every school has them. I don't know what the exact requirements are to be one.

I am perfectly OK that there are no winners between Tom and Zach. Worthless human beings. I do feel bad for everyone who gets caught up as collateral damage.

It makes sense because it’s true. Just like ladies night at bars is not a celebration of feminism.

Requirements:
Be attractive

I’m pretty sure they list them in the football program before games but maybe they don’t do that anymore

The requirement list for some schools has historically been a little longer and X-rated. I'm pretty sure they were a small part of the Louisville saga at one point.

When I was there we did have one guy that did recruiting as well. He liked it but did not exactly enjoy the recruits retelling about their "experiences" (from what I understood usually with the "recruiting girls") the night before while driving them to the airport on Sunday morning.

I know Tennessee got in some trouble a few years ago for something the recruits were doing with the hostesses.

Each of the responses I'm seeing here to my inquiry of "recruiting girls" is a prime example why no fan base should ever cast stones when it comes to off-the-field matters. Obviously it's not a revelation that "sex sells", but no matter if it's still going on today in Ames or not, it's clear (allegedly) Iowa State athletics has also leveraged that factor for decades.

With that said, cast as many stones as we wish for on-the-field matters. Horns Down, and all that jazz. Cyclone Football managers, get our Gatorade under lock and key for Saturday. Tom cannot be trusted.
