Re: Wyoming to Big 12

Absolutely accurate. Louisville wanted in, repeatedly stated their interest in our league and we looked elsewhere.

Wyoming is too small of a school, without much hope of growing in actual size or fanbase. Colorado State is about twice the size of Wyoming (30k) and has the potential to be a Big 12 caliber school. They are certainly not there now, but seem to have the necessary basics in place to improve and compete if the time and money should ever follow an invitation. There are not a lot of other options that make sense, should the league actually decide to go back to twelve, but this is one that would be viable, if CSU is viewed as a "project" investment.

So is Tulane, but they're located in a very fertile recruiting state, and BTW, are going bowling this year. CSU isn't.

I'm not surprised he left, but it is surprising he left for a job that's an obvious challenge. I think about 80%, Sun Belt, MAC and MWC schools have more upside and less challenges than Wyoming.
It will be a challenge but you can win there. See Joe Tiller.

IMO the league is hurting without a Championship game. I know all the arguments about knocking teams off...but still. The ACC, BIG 10, and SEC were talked the most about in the last week. Hardly any mentions of the Big12 or Pac12.

The ACC, Big 10, and SEC all had teams trying to play their way into the national championship game too. Big 12 and Pac 12, not so much. I don't think having divisions and a CCG this year would have helped the Big 12, as all of the teams at the top lost to teams that would have been in their division.

I agree with many of the posters in this thread, U of Wyoming add to the Big 12 is a bad idea with so many other "mid-major" schools that would be better choices.

People thinking Wyoming to Big 12 need to read this first:

I know it's a re-posted article, but so many posters here seem to have not read it yet. If they would read it, this talk of Wyoming to Big 12 would never happen. Wyoming's not even on the list, so its index, I would assume, is lower than Rice U. Not a good fit at all.

Re: Wyoming think they are headed to the Big 12?

his comments stated "when school is in session" in a thread about Wyoming to BigXII implying that UofWyoming was in Cheyenne. My point being that it is not, it is in Laramie.
Then I guess I should havev just said Cheyenne, Wyomings largest city. Wait, I did. I guess I can't compare those two items only college towns?

Re: Wyoming to Big 12

Temperatures in Cheyenne are about the same as in Ames. Bohl may not want anything to do with Nebraska as he was fired as D coordinator so they could hire Pelini. Perhaps, he is a man that enjoys doing his thing under the radar and does not care to live in a glass house. I am sure the Bohls can get along just fine in Cheyenne on a million a year.

Yeah, but, but, Ames has trees.
