I'm looking for recommendations door a wireless music system like a Bose unit or sonos. I would like to find one that isn't quite as expensive as the 2 mentioned but I'm willing to spend for sound quality.

My parents got me a sonos system for christmas one year. It sounded great and worked really well. WHEN IT WORKED. I could run it from my computer but since i own a mac, the software never worked correctly. Whatever it made me download also made my computer unbelievably slow. And I couldnt just plug anything into it and have it play the music from that device. I would suggest you don't buy a Sonos system

I use an Apple "Airport Express" as my WiFi router, which has a stereo-output jack so you can link it to any stereo receiver or powered speakers with an input. I can stream itunes to it, and there are a few other apps that support it, too (I use a 3rd-party Pandora app a lot). I think Apple TV allows you to do the same thing. It's nice because it gives you a lot more flexibility with speakers and receivers.

Have the same setup. AppleTV in my theatre room and Airport Express upstairs. Can play music from my iPad/iPhone at one or both of those locations. Also can have it play on my iMac in my office.

I think this is what I'll do. I already have apple tv but will want to set up the airport express in another room. I was worried that there would be a problem using both apple tv and airport express but it sounds like that's ot the case.
