I think Matt Blair still holds the NFL record for most blocked kicks in a career. I know on at least one occasion on a long field goal try, we put him right under the cross bar to try to swat it away, or at least they talked about doing that. Come to think of it, I don't know if they actually did or not.

Anyone have any film of Matt Blair?
Really hard to find specific highlights on players back then.

Here is a little something I found, Vikings '78 Highlights, see atleast 6:27-8:08. . I did not go thru the rest.

Here is game 2 1978 against Redskins(Edit: Broncos), I think in its entirety. I did not view any of it. Don't know if M Blair even played this game. Someone could view a bit of it and let us know. He was Pro Bowl '77-82 though. (Edit: Yes Blair played, probably thruout if willing to watch whole thing. Some controversy at 2:25:56 mark; can see Blair and other Vikings arguing call at end)

Agree.

Just watched a some of the 78 Vikings/Bronco game also. Talk about nostalgia. Blair doing his thing but...Howard Cosell, Don Meridith, Frank Gifford. Sure brings back the memories.

Couldn't resist watching some more of these old tapes (should I call it film or video?). Bears v. Vikings game 4 1978, Matt Blair in on 2 consecutive plays here, starting at 22:27. Haha, the 2nd play Blair gets a defensive touchdown!

No replay, horsecollars are legal, clipping is rarely enforced ... a very different time!
