The problem I have with this article is it doesn't account for the fact we now have Mangino as our OC. Once the players are comfortable with this system, why do we think it won't look and feel different than the past? I"m certainly not gauging everything based on one game.

The real change will come when Mangino is the Head Coach. That is what I am waiting for.

A CB blitz is one of those plays even our offense can take advantage of. See Allen Lazard's 48 yd reception.

Also, I think I saw ISU run a back shoulder fade to Lazard in the 2nd half but the timing was off. I'm hoping Sam and Allen can get that down, because it will be near unstoppable.

This kind of reads like, "I don't know what to do, but do something!" I totally understand that attitude, though. We should be desperate.

Unless the offense plays great then why do you think that would happen? And if the offense plays great we should win some games.

White Helmets with white pants would at least make us look cool while losing. If your going to lose might as well look good doing it.

IF the offense plays great then Mangino will leave and we will suck at offense, that is probably what will happen.

Agree. When CPR didn't go for it on 4th and an inch it really baffled me. Do something exciting.

The play before was odd too. It was 3rd and a full 2 yards to go and Sam ran to the LOS and did a quick snap and sneak for a gain of 1 yard. NDSU wasn't fooled at all.

What an incredibly black-and-white world you live in.

Based off of my experience with Paul's offenses then I would say that is what we will get.

That article is DEAD ON. Iowa State cannot be an oldschool football team and win games in the Big 12. Maybe the SEC is the best place for Rhoads, places where you can get away with that.

We have tried the old conservative approach and lost points at halftime. We need to be more aggressive and hang it out there. We are not going to win playing it conservative. We are not good enough to do that. We need to take chances and bring some hope and change.

Nearly impossible. If Mangino is any good, Rhoads won't get fired. If the program is bad enough to fire Rhoads, then Mangino wasn't good enough to avert it, and thus isn't good enough to be head coach. Only chance is if we start losing games 65-74. And even then you're more likely to see Wally retire in favor of his son instead of Rhoads going.

I didn't mean head coach you dingus. You can run basic offenses and defenses in the SEC and look really good. There is a reason they do it there and the NFL, the have the caliber of athletes who do not need special sets and gimmicks, and there is a reason they typically beat teams for titles.

There is a reason PR was a DC at Auburn. He is a good Defensive mind, I just don't think he is the type of HC to get Iowa State where EVERYONE wants them to go.
