Adding a team is about who will watch. Will we add many viewers by adding CSU? Colorado didnt seem to draw much and wasnt much of a loss, im not sure we really gain much there.

If there was an expansion Id rather look south\east for larger markets and recruiting areas.

57% of the people voting on that poll thought CSU would get a Big 12 invite?! I don't think it's impossible, but that is crazy.

I would be in favor of a BYU/CSU addition. Both are good schools that fit the Big 12 mold and would increase our TV markets.

Selfishly would love to have a team from Colorado back in the Big12 so I could see some ISU football and basketball more easily!

Financially it just makes no sense to add CSU. The state of Colorado is a good sports market for eyeballs, but it really is a pro sports state, and most of that pro sport love is dedicated to the Broncos, everyone else is second fiddle. CSU has a lot of alumni on the front range, but not many seem to care much about the sports teams, and I don't think they draw a ton of people to the games. CU is the team that gets all the bandwagon fans, and they don't even get a ton of hype on the northern front range, who knows maybe it's different down in Denver. Ft Collins is a really cool place, but I just can't see anybody in the conference clamoring to extend an invite to CSU, unless the Big12 as we know it implodes and we need to scramble to bring in members.

I'm all for it. It's almost as big as CU and is in a beautiful location. Their new stadium is going to be state of the art.

Agree, however, with the previous eastward expansion, travel could be problematic, unless they went to divisional scheduling.

Yep. And they're building a $250 million on-campus stadium right now. Some people have commented without, obviously, reading the OP linked article.

I don't think it financially made sense to add TCU (other than their football team is good) but they got an invite. Fort Worth is in the middle of Big 12 country already and TCU doesn't have the fan numbers since it is a smaller private school.

You could argue that their fanbase might quickly grow or be invigorated after joining a power 5 conference. CSU is similar in size to ISU.

nope....Cant see this happening.
I love how the article talks about getting the Denver Market.
I have a Work location in Fort Collins. Absolutely awesome out there. In May you can get a sun burn in Denver at a Rockies game and then head up to Estes Park and have a snow ball fight in the same day. that being said..
I just don't see CSU working out if Colorado didn't work out. Its just and odd state for college sports.
CSU is way....down the list in the state of things to care about and that includes Biking, Med Weed and car pooling.

Rule of thumb...If you are at least 10 down on things to care about at your own state. Nobody else will care either and you stay in the MW.

Here is the pool IMO.

BYU
UCONN
Cincy
South Florida
UCF
Ellsworth Community College

And because we are not good in football for the most part
UNLV (vegas every other year sudo bowl game)

very unlikely we steal anyone out of a P5.

Just because they have the money to build an expensive (but tiny, only 36k seats) stadium doesnt mean they'll generate money for us. Its not like we share donor money. People in colorado didnt really care about the more prominent CU team, CU wasnt much of a loss when they left. Not sure how CSU is going to benefit the conference.

I think we'd have to wait a couple years to see if their program continues success and rises above the others at that level before we could know if they would translate well as far as competition at this level. They need to perform continually somewhat like TCU did imo before they beat out any other candidates.
