wait, did someone say ISU has an outdoor track? WHERE?!?!?!

Hell, I know we have a cross country "field", but an outdoor track? This I gotta see

It's over by Cap Timm on the backside of the cross country course. I don't believe Iowa State hosts an outdoor track meet however.

I use that track almost daily and we don't host anything there. For me it works great but there are some cracks in it and the surface is probably not what you would want for college athletes. I got from a couple runners and a coach that we are looking at a location for an outdoor track but it hasn't been decided upon yet. One of the locations was east of the football stadium where those intramural fields are. I'm not sure if this is just the beginning of deciding whether or not to build a track and if they are even serious about it. I'd love to see it built but I think the track at Ames High cost well over half a million.

Two coaches have left of their own accord. One had no connection to this University prior to coming here. He's getting double the money at a more prestigious school. While he screwed us over the way it all went down, it's not surprising on his end. Chizik's leaving had NOTHING to do with Pollard.

With Cael it's not so clear. There is no doubt he's getting more $, but how much, is the question. Penn State pays a lot of coaches directly through boosters, so its not on the books. Although it's possible that there was a rift with Pollard, there seems to be as much if not more evidence to the contrary. It's just so damn surprising w/him because of how intrinsically tied to ISU he is. It makes you wonder if there IS something bad under the surface, but I frankly don't see enough evidence to suggest that at this point in time.

I don't agree w/everything Pollard has done, and he's definitely made some questionable moves when it comes to hidden extensions and raising ticket prices, but I have no doubt that he's busting his a$$ to make ISU more than a bottom feeder. I badly want the man to succeed, because that would mean good times for us. If Rhoads does well (I think there is a reasonable chance of this), and Greg turns his ship around (less likely, but looking better than it did a month ago) we could have some good days down the road...
