24/8/8 might not quite be the classic LeBron 27/7/7 stat line but it's nowhere near falling off. Dude was all NBA at 40.No signs of falling off for LeBron? Seriously?
Lebron is the perfect example. He's been crushing for 22 seasons now with no real signs of falling off. The amount of haters he still has is mind-blowing.
He's been hyping Hali a bunch recently too which is fun. Talking about the team aspect instead of the ESPN doesn't volume score angle.
So the Halliburton stuff comes a lot from the limited mins in the Olympics and then due to some of the NBA surveys talking about overrated or least clutch players. I don’t know anyone who ho thinks of Hali as a villian, that’s a different take but every game that he crushes that overrated noise gets quieter. The simple fact is that the bucks were a one man team, no one believed in the cavs despite the record and then they got injured. Then no one really thought the knicks were that good, they would have lost to Detroit with neutral refs and would have lost to Boston if Tatum didn’t blow his achillies. But if he does what he did in game 1 against OKC, man people will be singing his praises.
Purdy is a bit different as he is that kind of Goff/Darnold QB that fell into a ton of pro bowl players at skill positions and an offensive genius as an OC/HC. Last year when Purdy didn’t have those pro bowlers he went 6-11 which just feeds the fires of those who doubted him. Good news is they have the easiest schedule in all of football in 2025 so he will get back to double digit wins with his new contract
They aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of their ability compared to their peers. Hali is a legit top 15-20 NBA player at worst. Some may argue he's a top 10. Purdy had one outstanding season. He's not even a top 10 QB let alone a top 20 overall NFL player. Kudos to Brock for landing that contract but he couldn't even get his team in the playoffs last year. He's not the caliber of player Hali is dude. More than adequate but not a superstar.Purdy is not even a top 10 QB? He's only had one outstanding season?
Purdy has only played three seasons, and he led the 49ers to the NFC Championship game one season and the Superbowl the next. Good Lord, Purdy has the highest career QB rating among all active NFL QBs!
Last season his team was decimated by injuries with almost all of their star players missing a majority of the season. Heck, they were down to their 3rd string running back and practice squad offensive linemen much of the season (resulting in Purdy being pressured more than any other QB in the league), and their receivers ranked DEAD LAST in the NFL in degree of separation.
But yeah, go ahead and discount Purdy's first two record breaking seasons and base your judgement of him on a season where everyone around him went down with injuries.
Not arguing about whether he's a better caliber of player than Tyrese, dude. Just arguing with your proclamation that Brock isn't a top 10 QB.He's not the caliber of player Hali is dude. More than adequate but not a superstar.
I wasn’t comparing the two, I was explaining the reasoning people have for doubting them. I love Hali and think he’s a hell of a competitor. They aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of their ability compared to their peers. Hali is a legit top 15-20 NBA player at worst. Btw I like Purdy and think he’s a great QB but that’s kinda the argument people have against him. When he has a ton of pro bowl caliber talent surrounding him he has great results. When those guys are out then he struggled. You can obviously make the argument that anyone would struggle with those injured but the people that don’t like him will use that as their reason.Purdy is not even a top 10 QB? He's only had one outstanding season?
