Why do our highest profile pros have so many doubters?

There are constant debates throughout the NFL season about whether Brock Purdy is actually any good or if he just has a bunch of talent around him. Tyrese Haliburton was “overrated” and then “not a superstar”.

The results kind of speak for themselves, don’t they?

Not really unique to Iowa State players. We just notice it more with our people.

It's the nature of the way sports is covered, (hell, it's not just confined to sports either). There has to be a contrary opinion. There is always someone who is going to minimize accomplishments. There's a whole cottage industry dedicated to questioning how good LeBron James is. Lamar Jackson. Giannis. Tom Brady. Caitlyn Clark. It's just how it goes with sports.

If I’m league commissioner I’m on the phone with espn telling them to end this insane push that Tyrese is some evil super villain. It’s especially dumb when he’s the least selfish player. The $ has always been the players and personalities.

Lebron is the perfect example. He's been crushing for 22 seasons now with no real signs of falling off. The amount of haters he still has is mind-blowing.

He's been hyping Hali a bunch recently too which is fun. Talking about the team aspect instead of the ESPN doesn't volume score angle.

Hali's been straight killing it and it's awesome to witness. It's nice seeing some hype on some former ISU players. Breece needs it back, because there are a lot of doubters now showing face on him. The jets franchise was a bad landing spot for him, he could thrive so much more in other spots. Think of if he was in Denver, Pitt, Baltimore, LAC he'd do way more damage.

Hali is fine being the villain. He's embraced it these playoffs

But why? Most people aren’t Knicks and Bucks fans. Nothing about the way Nash, Magic and Hali play is “villain”. He’s not Rodman or Draymond. You could say he’s like Robert Horry with the big shots but no cheap shots…although he’s already light years past Horry’s shots now.

Celebrations and hits every dagger shot. He does their star player's celebration in front of their face and then takes their soul at the end of the games

I guess I’m different. To me “villain” is like when KAT knee’d a guy in the balls twice in five minutes and both times the foul gets called on the guy’s balls instead of in the villain. Draymond, Rodman, Malone, Cheap Shot Bob, etc

24/7 happy, passing, smooth non physical play like Tyrese, Magic and Nash wouldn’t strike me as a villain in a million years…unless maybe he hit those daggers on my team and then I’d know it was irrational. The truth is the Knicks are ESPN’s team like the Cyclones are our team.

In what world is Tyrese a villain? I take in a lot of NBA content each week and no one thinks he’s a villain. Some think he’s a bit corny but not a villain.

Knicks fans, sure I guess, but that’s because he just beat them. Bucks? Yeah they are rivals. General population, no.

I see it as a villain not like Draymond, but like not giving the average viewer what they want or expect to happen. The average fan wanted the Bucks, Cavs, and Knicks all to beat the Pacers. They want the best viewed player to win and Haliburton is the face they see when they don't get what they want to happen.

No signs of falling off for LeBron? Seriously?
