I have seen a bunch of speculation that Wally will be gone after this year which I agree that changes on that side of the ball need to happen. I think the next DC needs to have some previous DC experience and strong recruiting ties in either Florida or TX. I know many people have said we have no chance of getting Bo or Muschamp. However, if someone would have told me that we could have scored Mangino as OC, I would have laughed as well. I think Paul needs to at least pick up the phone and call, especially Muschamp, the guy knows how to coach defense. Anyway, offer him the job and a nice amount of money and see what happens, worst he can say is no. Just wanted to see who everyone thought were reasonable candidates for the job.

Muschamp ain't happening. Let's just get that out of the way now. He's not coming to Iowa State. Why would he? He's more than likely going to be at A&M.
Muschamp??? Come on, man. I mean... Seriously?!? That may be the dumbest thing I have read on here in a while. No, really. You are entitled to share your opinion but have shot any credibility you might have when to comes to anything ISU, if you think Muschamp would even think about coming here.
I think Nick Saban would be a great choice for our DC. I mean, probably worth a call. It is just as realistic as Muschamp.
With a serious answer, I think Rhoads should give David Gibbs a look.

Current DC at Houston, so some ties to Texas. NFL experience. Success at multiple stops in taking over a poorly-ranked defense and getting them improved quickly. The Cougars were in the 100's in total defense when he took over last season and now they are in the top 15.
I don't think ISU would be a long-term stop for him but I do think that he would give us a good chance at improving the defense quickly.

I didn't say he would come here. All I said was why not give a call, he might laugh at it who cares. I get tired of this attitude that we are Iowa State and we shouldn't expect people to want to come here. We have an AD that is willing to invest in the program, our facilities are on par with most of the Power 5, we are going to have the 3rd largest stadium in the Big 12, and we have loyal fanbase. That is a losers attitude, and my friend if you think we aren't worth it, you are a joke and should just hide behind a made up user name and continue your attacks. I on the other hand, think if you are going to win big in the world you need to think big.
Nick Saban is of the coaching lineage of Bill Belicheck. They are both defensive guys, too.
