Hey, I'm going to keep cheering for our guys...but you folks who keep saying "we're just a bad road team, relax" need to remember that the tourney isn't played at Hilton. Bad road teams don't last long...

Its also not played on the road....

This was our toughest remaining game in a tough stretch and going into the game I saw our likely range of reasonable possibility in the final 8 games of the the season as 7-1 at best and 3-5 the worst. I still see this as true. We lost the most likely one in our final 8. Here is our expected RPI and projected seed in any of the likely scenarios for the final 7 games:

3-4 / 20-10 expected RPI 19 Seed 5/6
4-3 / 21-9 expected RPI 17 Seed 5
5-2 / 22-8 expected RPI 12 - Seed 4
6-1 / 23-7 expected RPI 11 Seed 3/4
7-0 / 24-4 expected RPI 9 Seed 3

I will be in a catatonic state if we lose both road games next week @ Okie St, Wed and @ UT Sat and be ranked lower than UNI and Iowa.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but at times of challenge and controversy."

(take note you CFers out there)

Always cheer for your team no matter what. Cyclone fans are not entitled to ridicule this team or coaches.

These guys are awful on the road. We are damn near done with the regular season and these guys show no signs that they will get better away from home. Yes I am concerned about this team.

Kinda feels like a one win and then out season in b12 and ncaa. Certainly anything is still possible with this team but there's no real reason to expect it. Will all depend on how well Fred can improve them. Certainly ly last year was better than expected as well but this team seems even less likely to pull that off. No Kane and no Ejim will be that difference. I'm not off the bandwagon or anything but there's no reason for anyone to say it's all fine if the goals are still high.

may I suggest taking off January and February each year? Same fans freak out during B12 play because we are not a great b12 road team. You guys are high on the horse in the non con and March and then boom. Guess what Hoiberg always has teams peaking at the right time and has teams built to be very formidable tourney teams. Has a Hoiberg team played a poor NCAA tournament game yet? We have lost to the eventual champions twice giving a hard fought battle under bad circumstances and played 2 seed OSU in Ohio and got ****ed. Beat Uconn, North Carolina, and Notre Dame convincingly too (or missed a key player). So maybe this team is different, sure its possible but we have no evidence to suggest it. If anything we are poised to get a More favorable seeding and if injuries stay away have a chance to have some fun. And if not....good news we have one of the best coaches coming back with a ton of talent next year to try again. Why be a fan if you are miserable when you suck and miserable when we are good? By your standard only the 1999-2000 season was worth enjoying. Come on it is good to be a clone.

Remember when we were 6-5 at this point last season and finished 3-6 on the road in conference?! Weird how that works.

give one year where we've been good on the road going back to Orr.

1999-00 ISU went 6-2 in conference road games and the opponents needed a total of 3 overtimes to take the 2 games from ISU. The following year they were nearly as good going 5-3 in conference road games with 2 of the losses being in a total of 5 overtimes.

So to recap winning 75% of conference road games is the best ISU has done in the span of time most CF posters can remember. 62.5% is the second best road record.

I don't think that it's being irrational to expect to win some road games with the amount of talent that we have. I'm sick of everybody saying "it's just one loss" also. Those "just one losses" add up when you lose every time you play a road game. Just my opinion though.

Well since we haven't lost every time we've played a road game, your point isn't totally valid.

And I think it is also fair to point out that MOST teams lose a lot of road games. It isn't unusual or crazy. Duke has lost on the road this year. North Carolina has. Norte Dame has. Oklahoma has. Maryland has.

Teams lose on the road. It happens.

Both of those are better than Kansas' record on the road last year (55.5%) so we don't exactly need to run the table on the road to win the conference.

I get why you're frustrated, but this was an 11 point loss to a ranked team. There are maybe 5-8 teams in the country that could realistically expect to win this game. A win would have been an upset. Step away from the ledge.

Im sure I'll get flamed for this, but watching that game last night, that was not an 11 point loss. It just looked that way on the scoreboard.

Nobody mentions it but we've never had a mid-year guy in Fred's time and I think it's set us back some.

It's like we're still in the process of sorting things out and we're two thirds of the way through the season.

That was the difference in the game. ISU had a guy who didn't play a single second last year and transfer who the NCAA wouldn't allow to play until the end of December while OU had a guy who played the entire year last year and the NCAA allowed to be immediately eligible at the beginning of the season.

I'm not worried. We weren't great on the road last year either. The league is so stacked, if we can make it through with 6 losses I'll consider it a big improvement over last year, 7 losses a very slight improvement.

It's all about the B12 and NCAA tournament and putting ourselves in position. I would like to get a 2/3 seed for B12. 3 seed for the dance would be great but will now possibly require getting another tournament title.

The NCAA consistency issue really has never been as drastically contradictory as those two cases.

It makes no sense at all, if either guy could play all year it should have been McKay.
