Who Big 12 teams are losing, returning, and adding

Here's something I posted in another thread; it's what each team is returning in terms of minutes, points, and rebounds per game. It doesn't account for any incoming transfers or recruits, and it excludes only those players who were seniors, have announced their transfer, or have said they're going pro (although I do include OSU and Baylor if they were to lose certain players to the NBA).

Oklahoma State -- 83.1 PPG, 33.9 RPG, 227.5 MPG
Texas Tech -- 69.1 PPG, 31 RPG, 207.8 MPG
Baylor -- 52.4 PPG, 29.3 RPG, 146.9 MPG
Texas -- 47.1 PPG, 28.4 RPG, 172.8 MPG
West Virginia -- 45.9 PPG, 22.4 RPG, 142.7 MPG
Kansas State -- 44.2 PPG, 21.1 RPG, 133.3 MPG
Texas Christian -- 39.6 PPG, 16 RPG, 142.8 MPG
Iowa State -- 34.2 PPG, 19.6 RPG, 93.1 MPG
Oklahoma -- 34 PPG, 18.7 RPG, 116.6 MPG
Kansas -- 17.4 PPG, 11 RPG, 60.5 MPG
Oklahoma State (minus Smart, Nash, & Brown) -- 38.4 PPG, 19.6 RPG, 128 MPG
Baylor (minus Austin & Jefferson) -- 26.1 PPG, 13 RPG, 89.1 MPG

I think Oklahoma is in the worst shape. They lose a ton and don't replace what they lost with that good of players. Do you know when players have to declare for the draft by?

April 28.

I don't know much about OU's bench or their recruits, but they're definitely losing a lot. All research to be done in due time this offseason.

BTW, did you know Iowa State got a new logo? Like, 5 years ago.

I did know that. I like the old one better since Cy is in it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes an old logo

according to this article: More Underclassmen Declaring Early for the 2013 – NBA DRAFT - Holidays Press

"A player has until April 16 to enter and still be able to withdraw his name from the draft, maintaining his eligibility for another season of College Basketball. The final date to enter to declare eligibility for the 2013 NBA draft is April 28, 60 days before the draft."

Then the late signing period starts April 17th. So it looks like a "first" decision will be announced for Austin, Jefferson, Smart, and Brown in the next 2-3 days.

Even if players say they are returning before April 16th they still have until April 28th to change their mind and say they are going to the NBA draft.

How stupid. They need to just drop the April 16th date and say they just have the one deadline of April 28th. Coaches would still have from April 28th to May 15th(end of the late signing period) to sign players to replace whoever left for the draft.

I agree, it is a very stupid system. Pick a date that works for both college and pro and stick to it. I guess by the current system, some players that may be on the fence have more time to wiegh their options and see where they might get drafted by who all else is leaving early, but it still doesn't make a ton of sence.

Yeah I guess waiting to see what others do might give some players a better idea of where they would go in the draft. But IMO if a player is undecided if he should stay or go then he probably should stay in college until he is sure that he is good enough or until he has to go after his senior year.

It seems like everyone that declared this year thinks they'll be a first rounder. Not everybody can be. For the sake of taxpayers everywhere, hopefully none of these juniors and sophomores goes undrafted.

I had just assumed Smart going pro was a for gone conclusion, but it does sound like he is struggling with deciding. I still expect him to declare, he has till April 28th to decide.
Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State’s guaranteed top-five pick, continues to wrestle with the decision whether or not to turn pro. “I have made a pro-con list and it gets more difficult every time I make the list,” Smart continued. “I make it every day and my mind changes every day and it gets harder and harder every day.”
Asked when the decision may come, Smart shied away from setting a definitive date: “It’ll be soon, but not that soon.”

I'm usually all for kids staying in school, but if you're top five, you go.

Smart staying would be great for the Big XII next year.
Whole heartedly agree. While I would hate having to see ISU go up against him again next year, it would instantly make the Big 12 a more solid conference. They'd be easy favorites to win the conference title next year, too. Break KU's 9 year streak, yes

Unless Wiggins goes to KU then I think KU would still be the favorite. That would be pretty cool if he stayed though, but he really should go and not risk injury.

KU still be the favorite regardless of Wiggins' decision. Bill Self is just that good.

Marcus Smart should declare for NBA draft. LeBryant Nash should have gone to NBA last year when his stock was still high!

If Smart stays he is an idiot IMO. His draft stock won't get any higher. Coming back risks his stock dropping. If smart, brown, and nash all stay they are going to be ridiculously loaded. Then they might possibly get Olukemi back too. Add 2 top 100 guards and that is a combination to win the conference I agree.
