When will B1G enter realignment discussion?

Twitterverse now has KU as an ACC candidate. Another AAU school could bite the dust. If Mizzou goes SEC, Rutgers and ISU are really the only candidates left in B1G expansion. Rutgers goes ACC, and ISU has to be Notre Dame's partner almost by default.

UConn gets there before Kansas. Much better geography fit, everything else they bring is comparable.

Big 10 doesn't have to expand just because everyone else is. They're not going to add anybody who doesn't bring a whole lot to the table. They went years sitting at 11 and foregoing a championship game while the SEC, Big 12, and ACC had 12. Now that the Big 10 has its championship game and will reap the $$$ that comes from it, I don't see them rushing into adding anyone not named Notre Dame.

Exactly. No one is going to force the B10 to expand. They will sit at 12 unless they can find two teams who each raise the conference value enough that every program makes more money than they currently are.

I don't see them making any move at this point without ND either, but I don't see unbalanced Legends and Leaders either. We need to have Rutgers, Kansas and Mizzou gone before ND needs a bunky.

The superconferences are going to make so much money that it will just add to what the Big 10 already makes. I don't think there is any way the Big is just sitting there. The more schools these conferences select the more pressure ND has to join a conference. I thnk the Big has a plan and they are just waiting to see what OU does, like the rest of us.

I would love for ISU to fall to the B1G due to them waiting on ND, and if conference commitments meant anything its a possibility. But I doubt a $20million exit fee would keep a new ACC member from coming to the Big 10. I'm not sure the established members would leave due to culture and basketball, even with the higher Big 10 payout but I'm guessing a Rutgers, UCONN, Syracuse, etc might still be willing to leave even with the higher buyout.

Unless the Big 10 did not want to appear to seem like a conference that busted another one up and wanted to remain above the fray.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the B1G set back and let the Pac whatever, ACC, and SEC be the super conference guiena pigs. The B1G doesn't need to expand just for the sake of expansion. Adding Nebraska was a win-win for both parties and the only other school out there that would increase the B1G's brand bigger than Nebraska is Notre Dame.

A good indication the Big10 is not expanding....look at Pitt/SY going to the ACC. Big10 candidates if there were any.

Story comes out: Notre Dame to ACC? This is ND &/or ESPN pulling the strings - hey, B1G, you might miss out on having 'US'.

Rutgers & UConn to ACC - TV's & Basketball (not just football) at play. When Syracuse & Pitt to ACC was announced, whose quotes were first posted on the additions? - Coach K @ Duke

Add KU to your conference, it immediately makes it more relevant on the basketball landscape. Mizzou would add quite a bit in both basketball & football. Both help cement two whole states.

ISU would be probably somewhere in between Mizzou & KU - with the exception of TV sets. Geographically and academically would be a great fit, but lack of additional TV market is largest hurdle. I don't think KSU can be included unless KU says both of us or neither of us (but I don't think KU's position is such that they can take that strong of stance).

In the end, if add ND, then adding ISU becomes more palatable (if the likes of Mizzou & KU round out the 4)
