Mine was in 1972 at Clyde Williams Field. Baker House started a tradition of getting to the gates at 7am with a case of Schlitz and a bottle of Jim Beam and play cards till the gates opened. We may well have been the first tailgaters in Iowa State History. Unfortunately, I don't remember many first halves of the games we went to.

First game of the year in the '01 season.

Also my first Iowa State drinking ticket. Yes, first meaning others followed. The best part is, my friends got it on video tape.

I remember the Baker House tailgates in 1972. Don't forget about the bologna sandwiches and Colt 45!

Fall of 85. Lot of kegs and loud music with people dancing on the top of vehicles. The foot ball team was lousy, but the raucus tail gates helped make up for it.

Spring game in 2007 or the first game of '07 (if the spring game doesn't count). Don't exactly get to tailgate when you are in the band.

I've "tailgated" with my family at the CWS, but it mainly consisted of snack food and pop between games.

oh wow, first big 12 game will be AMAZING to you then.

My first was in '04. And I have been HOOKED ever since. Can't beat being around multiple thousands of Cyclone fans, great food, outdoors, tons of beer, tons of grill outs, beer pong, bags, and other beer games.

Can't wait.

Mine was 1981...I was in the 6th grade....I got a sweet sweatshirt with that flying ISU logo on it.....Thats the only reason I know what year it was....I miss that shirt...:wideeyed: Twenty seven years later and I nearly have perfected the art of the tailgate.....The secret is to feed your patrons enough cocktails so they don't care what food you serve or what music you play.....and if they still complain have a loud enough stereo to drown them out....haaaaaaa

2005 vs. Colorado. I'm sure many of you remember why that night was memorable.

Didn't have any friends who were interested in sports while I was at school there, unfortunately.

Iowa game 2003. We were in a really really long line at some god-awful hour like 4 a.m., after stopping at Hyvee.

I "think" it was either 1979 or 1981, against San Diego State. I was still in High School, and our Physics Teacher had 3 free tickets, and I was one of the lucky guys who got to go.

We found our seats real early and then I wandered off, like I usually do, and got in with a bunch of college kids drinking screwdrivers, of all things.

I still detest the taste of screwdrivers.
