The science museum downtown is pretty good for kids. We go almost every year and my son isn't tired of it yet. He looks forward to it as a matter of fact.

Here's an "off the beaten path" suggestion:

Go to the Linden Hills neighborhood, to the Wild Rumpus bookstore. It's a great little bookstore for kids, where they have various animals like lizards, birds, etc. in-store, as well as free-roaming cats and even chickens! It's hilarious seeing the chickens strut around the bookstore, and you may even see some well-pecked books on clearance.

Also, a couple doors down from the bookstore is Coffee and Tea Ltd., where you can grab a cup of Kopi Luwak. It's the only place in the Midwest where you can get the $400/lb coffee by the cup.

perhaps, unless you just get a membership. One of the best $80 spent for us.
Is there anything to do indoors at Como? It has been a little while since I was there.

A few years ago, they added a large new complex that houses their rainforest exhibit. There's a new giftshop there, too. Most of the animals are indoors this time of year, so it's not too bad walking from building to building to view them. You really don't have to be outside too much. Also, the conservatory is nice, and in a few weeks, the butterfly house will open.

Or you could just get free passes from your library to go...

That's the only way I ever go.
