To the bolded part, I state my position. If you think humor is involved, then you have an odd sense yourself. You think I enjoy the football program being the LCD in all of P5 football? Please. I've spent countless hours and dollars going to games, tailgating, etc. When you invest into a product, you have certain expectations. My (low) standards can't even be met. This is where my frustration blossoms from. I'm actually mildly surprised that more people aren't more upset with the condition of the program.
I have no problem with anyone being upset with the state of the program and with grading out Rhoads' past two seasons. They speak for themselves.
An error was made on the replacement of Herman. Combined with poor recruiting (a lot due to the near-demise of the Big XII) and it was a perfect crap-storm against us. Also, I believe the program did not do what was needed on the defensive side of the ball to insure we had the appropriate type of players ready to step in & play. This goes beyond what was stacked against us and was simply a failure, period.
Despite this, last year's recruiting class was a notch above what we had drawn in. D'Vario Montgomery was added. The Mangino's, Eggen, Ayeni, & Linguist were brought on the staff. These have been pretty big moves.
Now, after the worst season we are experiencing a pretty good stretch in recruiting yet on the threads speaking of the recruits we get a diatribe on the state of the program or these ballsy one-line zingers thrown in. Whether you want Rhoads to succeed or not, it shouldn't matter. If he is not the man to do it, that is what will happen. However, whoever comes in next may like to have good players around and these recruits being added may just be those guys who make the difference for the next coach. In the end, it is being pro-ISU and the recruits being sought after coming down the stretch could be big, big difference makers for the team.
Joshua Thomas? A year ago he was heavy-lean Tennessee, then after they obtained their 40 commits JT looked elsewhere & chose us over Wisconsin & Georgia Tech. Bradrick Shaw? Would be the highest late-recruiting season flip to ISU I could ever think of & is from a powerhouse HS in Alabama. Josh Coleman? A DT with a great highlight video but with little to no offers but right after committing to us that same night receives an offer from Missouri. Hakeem Butler? A physical, 6'6"-6'7" WR with intriguing video & has a reported offer from Houston.
Post all of the negative, anti-Rhoads or whomever floats your boat that day in a separate thread & go at it. Rock that sucker up past the mega-realignment thread, I don't care. As to threads on current or prospective commits, it would be nice & more constructive to focus on that fact alone. If they are good/great, we should want these players regardless of who coaches them 2 years from now.
