I thought a single thread would make it easier in learning and exchanging information on the topic. I left a message on Fox28 FB page asking.... They replied but their answer seemed like they don't know a thing... Which I don't believe.

Problem is when you ask anyone, they give you vague information, but not specifics. Good news is that this will be the last time we will be in this situation. Starting next year, every conference game will be on either ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPNews

Fox 28 says the game will be televised by the Big 12 Network, ESPNU, and ESPN3. We knew that already dip *****.

What they do not say, however, as a paying customer of the Big 12 Network broadcasts, that they will be carrying the game live.

So we can panic.

Hopefully, this is a case where a social media outlet person for FOX28 doesn't know anything and just doesn't want to say the wrong thing, presuming that pee-on can get an answer sometime tomorrow morning.

If not:

According to the Big XII website, it won't be on KFXA. The only question is whether it will be blacked out on ESPNU. My guess is yes.

It's ridiculous that it's less than 24 hours before the game and no one can get a straight answer.

I've been in contact with the knuckleheads at KFXA earlier this year. They hold the Big 12 Network rights for
Cedar Rapids, but they only carry weekend games. No weeknight Big 12 Network games are aired around here; the good news is we didn't have to watch the debacle in Morgantown, but the bad news is no Big 12 tournament games unless they're on an ESPN outlet.

The thing that particularly irks me is KFXA has a perfectly usable digital subchannel (28.2) where they could easily put Big 12 Network games. The ABC affiliate here puts all kinds of high school/college sports on their subchannel - apparently KFXA makes too much money from 24-hour country music videos on 28.2 to make any other arrangements.

So I can guarantee KFXA won't carry the game Friday. The question does remain, though: will it be on ESPNU? The worst outcome would be ESPNU blacking it out, because there's a Big 12 Network affiliate in town; but the Big 12 Network affiliate isn't going to air the game either. That would really suck.

In all likely hood it will not be blacked out in CR if its on ESPNU. It will be blacked out on ESPNU in Des Moines because it will be on WOI. That's how I see it.

That's BS on Fox28's part. Their tavern hok staff is CHOOSING NOT to televise it. Such a joke that this is an issue in 2014. Luckily next year we don't have to deal with Cedar Rapids tavern hok news stations dictating which games get televised or not. Next issue is getting ESPNU on Mediacom basic cable. This happens, everyone in the state wins (including Iowa fans since they have games on ESPNU too.

If I REMEMBER correctly this same thing happened last year when we played KU. I thought DirectTV still showed it on ESPNU, but everyone that had Mediacom or Imon it showed a different game. Unfortunately i was at a party that the house had Mediacom, but they ended up showing it on the Non-HD channel???

I have DirectTV, so i am hoping that is the case???????

DIRECTV says espnu for tonight

Not in CR but up my way Dish already has ESPNU blacked out for tonight. Won't let me set up a timer to record it on DVR.

Of course I don't get the subchannels unless I plug in the over air antenna. Guess I'm spending my dinner break in the basement tonight. Wife is gonna love that!

So basically, no one has any answer if the game is on in Cedar Rapids. Sweet.

I remember this happening as well, but I didn't remember when. I think I actually called ImOn and complained about the blackout of ESPNU and they said that's not up to them.

Cedar Rapids has a Big 12 affiliate - KFXA - who says they have no idea if they are showing the game. So if a place has an affiliate, but it says its not showing that game would it still be blacked out on ESPNU? No one knows.
