Anyone else notice the absence of Bobo the clown dunk tank at the state fair this year? Any word on why? That was always a good place to hear some funny stuff!

I was wondering the same thing. I walked through that disease infested, pedifile playground area known as the Mid-Way to check him out... but his 'normal spot' was vacant.

Parents said the same thing that he was missing... he was usually on our exit route and good for a last laugh or two before heading home.

PC police got to another thing. ACLU probably filed a law suit against him for racism

I could understand maybe moving him away from the gate to somewhere where the traffic wasn't flowing through in/out but that's just stupid if the PC police had something to do with this because they were offended. It's all just joking, if you don't like it you don't have to stand there and watch it. Personally I thought it was hilarious sometimes

I believe that it is a different crew doing the midway than previous years. Do they just not have the clown dunking station?

i thought it was just as funny watching the people that would actually get ****** off at him and throw their balls at the cage; usually missing, just asking him to make fun of them even more.

I think this is correct. The midway is not BlueGrass this year. It's Belle City Amusements.

** Warning: old thread revival! **

(I'm never on the forum anymore, but googled "BoBo the clown" and this was one of the first hits.)

I was at Casey's on Merle Hay and an older guy comes up to me as I'm getting out of my truck and asked if I wanted to make $20. Since nothing normally good comes of encounters with strangers at conveniences stores, I was understandably skeptical.

He said his truck broke down and was at the dealership, and he got tired of waiting for the bus. Needed to purchase a wig for a bachelor party tonight and the clerk at Big Lots told him they didn't have Halloween stuff in yet, so directed him to some salon on Douglas across from the now burned down Plaza Lanes. Could I give him a ride?

I told him I would, but he didn't have to pay me $20, but he insisted. (I only say no "twice" when someone offers cash). :)

He had a very noticeable gravely voice when he talked but was very chatty. We drove to where the salon was supposed to be, but it was closed. He went to a store next to it and they gave him a business card for the salon's other location on 86th St in Johnston. Off we went only to find that was closed too.

I suggested we go to the Theatrical Shop in Valley Junction and has very appreciative that I was willing to drive him there.

As we small talked I don't know how we got on the topic of the fair, but he asked if I'd every heard of "Bo Bo". I responded, "Bo Bo the clown? Of course! That used to be one of our can't miss stops at the fair each year!"

He said he was Bo Bo back in the day. Retired now. Lives in Vegas most of the year.

I laughed and said it was so obvious now that he said and he had the very distinctive voice.

He got his wig and I drove him back to is hotel on Merle Hay.

There should be some sort of award for topically resurrecting a 13 year old thread with only 12 posts.

The first time it wasn't replied to after the first day and it wasn't good enough the first time to make it to page 2.

Wow....good to see him still kicking. Although I don't know how old he was but he was quick with the one-line zingers back in the day. I always felt bad for him as it seemed like he was just there by himself with no security, as others have said. I'm pretty sure he got in a few tussles back and possibly beat up pretty bad the last year he was at the fair. I sure enjoyed watching him interact with the crowd.

It was mighty kind of you to drive him around like that.
