Just got to thinking today how does everyone tip a pizza delivery guy? I generally tip better than in a restaurant, but I don't know why....

95% of the time I'll go get the pizza because I hate paying a delivery fee and a tip. The times I do order delivery, if there is a delivery charge, I'll hardly tip...if not, I'll tip a bit more.

the driver doesn't even get the delivery charge, some ppl are so tight about tipping good.... the delivery charge goes to the restaurant to pay for the wage of the driver..

So, the driver gets the delivery charge then? I hate the whole concept of tipping.

I'm not big on tipping either, it's always odd when we get carside to go at some of the restaurants, I'm like am I supposed to tip because they had to walk in an out twice, lol.

I go with 2 bucks flat. The only time I'll go under $2.00 is if they're insanely late, or it's Jimmy Johns. I'm not giving a $2.00 tip for a $7.00 sandwich.

What I always liked when delivering as an undergrad was the people who would order in a snowstorm "because it was too nasty to go out", then not bother to tip the person they had made drive in it...

I don't tip a fixed amount. Just like in a restaurant, it depends on the quality of service--and if the driver is a jerk or not, like "forgetting" his change wallet...

I had a a pizza guy deliver a pizza then come back to the door because he had a flat tire. He didn't have a jack, or a tire iron. He was from India and had no clue how to change his tire. So I got my stuff from the garage and ended up changing it for him.
Worst part was when I got done my pizza wasn't hot anymore

When I was a delivery driver for Da Vinci's, $2 was what I hoped for on any reasonably sized order. I didn't expect it on a $7 order, but on a pizza or something, anything less than $2 was a little light. Da Vinci's never had a delivery charge.

I would also say that students were generally decent tippers.

Having worked for tips, I tend to tip a little heavy.

Dollar per pizza/food item with a minimum of $2. But I really only order from Jeff's anymore.

While we are on the topic of pizza, is George's moving? I saw a big sign in front of the Kum&Go at the corner of Mortensen & S. Dakota. I didn't see where it was referring to though.

Generally, $2+ is a good tip. I delivered to feed my family when recovering from my head injury 10 years ago.

Delivery fees generally do NOT go to the driver and where we were Pizza Hut said the fees were for the higher gas prices. Even though the driver bought his own gas.

To me, proper tipping is a sign of social maturity. Both over- and under-tipping are a sign of the lack thereof, imo. And it's a wonderful way to ensure good service.

If you hadn't said "10 years ago" I would have thought for sure you were the delivery driver here in dsm who shot the guy trying to rob him and got fired for it.......

In HS & early college I delivered for Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Davincis. If pizza delivery paid as well as engineering I'd still be doing it - good times.

$2 is considered the norm. Although don't make them count out loose change and that's a small win.

If you are ever in the position to order 10 larges - be sure to tip the driver for that. I still grumble about the establishment that hosed me on that one. bastards.
