Anybody know much of anything about Iona? As ISU fans, we know as much as anyone that it is possible for a 15 seed to upset a 2 seed. Does Iona have the potential to pull this off at all? Not gonna lie, if we beat Notre Dame, I wouldn't be too upset to find ourselves playing Iona.

Iona is a talented team. They had that extremely good pg last season that went pro I believe. They also have one of the leading scorers in the country in Lamont Jones (averages about 24-25ppg I believe). There physical and tough, but don't have tons of size.

They score a lot of points, lead the country in scoring at around 81 ppg. Pretty average defensively and I think Ohio State will give them a lot of fits. If Iona can score about 70 points on Ohio State I like our chances (if we beat ND of course).

No idea, but Ohio State is one of the "hottest" teams in the country right now, so I'm not holding my breath. OSU just won the B10 tourney, have won 7 in a row, including wins over MSU(x2), Indiana, & Wisconsin.

If we make it to the 3rd round, OSU is going to be really tough!

I know that Tavon Sledge plays for Iona! It would be intriguing to match up against him in the second round.

From what ESPN says, if Iona goes off from 3 (which they have the capability of doing), then they have a chance.

I guess this is why I'm not as scared of Ohio St as some posters are, even though I have them winning this region (at least). Yeah, we're playing 70 miles from their home, but we've played almost everyone well on the road this year, even if they mostly didn't result in Ws. And not only do we shoot the 3 well, but we can put on a lineup where everyone shoots the 3 well, forcing Ohio St's bigs to defend the perimeter, opening up the middle.

But it all comes down to hitting our 3s. If we hit our 3s we can beat anyone in this tournament. We didn't hit our 3s in the Big 12 tournament and we were lucky to get by OU and ultimately couldn't keep up with KU.

So you are saying they are due for a loss.

Iona is a solid team that I think got underseeded. Iona definitely has a chance and I think they're the most likely team to pull off the 15 over 2. Granted, the odds still aren't great, but I wpuldn't be shocked by any means

The thing with everyone saying OSU is 'Peaking at the right time', is that all these people said the same thing about Missouri last year...

That's the awesome thing with this tournament...anyone can get beat an any time.

OSU plays aggressive defense, can run and pound it inside. Their only weakness is they're not a great 3 point shooting team. Iona would have to hope for a bad game out of them to pull this one out.

I think our mismatch with ND and their stiff bigs plays right into our strengths. Get their bigs isolated and let Niang and Ejim break them off the dribble. The team will need to hit the glass hard in this one if they stay with a big lineup.
